Have never been to Nashville before but will definitely go again! The town has an eclectic mix of neighborhoods yet is modern urban in many ways. This restaurant, recommended to us by our hosts, is tucked away in East Nashville, a re-gentrified area of the city. A Laundromat (!) in its previous life, it only has seating for maybe 60... More

One reviewer said "unassuming" and others speak different praises...okay, all justified. The food was great, so as a restaurant it deserves five stars. The beer on tap and by the bottle were pretty exotic; okay, I can do exotic but I chose the only light beer the bartender-in-chief said they had..Amstel Light. No problem. What was a problem was that... More

If you are looking for fancy, then look elsewhere. This place is a great little neighborhood bar and restaurant, with a very eclectic interior and a diverse crowd. The Saturday night jazz session is wonderful, but get there early to get a seat as it can get pretty crowded by 8 PM.

Don't judge a book by its cover! This is an unassuming spot on an unremarkable corner in East Nashville. Inside, however, you will find a complete treat. Soul-satisfying comfort food (especially the shepherd's pie) and live folk music every night. Enormous fun.

Had a fun time on Saturday night. The food was excellent. Everyone in my party said they would repeat their order again. Bangers and mash, the chicken philly sandwich, and pizza were all winners in my group. I had the shepherd's pie which I was disappointed. I've had better. A large variety of beers and wine to choose from, however,... More

Had heard about this place for some time in East Nashville so went there with out of town guests to try dinner and catch some music. We had been told that the shepherd's pie was a "must try". Well, I have been to four different places that serve shepherd's pie in Nashville and this is a very distant fourth. It... More

I enjoyed their shepherd's pie, along with the environment. It's not in the safest part of East Nashville so make sure you lock your cars, etc.

Incredible Meatloaf and Mashed Potatoes and Gravy! I rarely eat meat and typically don't pick American fare as a first choice for food - but I inhale this when I am at The Family Wash! The Shepherd's pie, both with meat and vegetarian is awesome! This is one of my favorite places to eat in the fall and winter!

Celebrated my birthday there with some friends and it was fantastic. The Shpeherd's Pie was great, the atmosphere hip and funky and the music awesome. Chris West was in residence that night and when he promised to play Happy Birthday for me I thought I would get a few short riffs. Instead I got one of the best jazz renditions... More

This place is now my new favorite restaurant in Nashville. It's a little on the quirky side but if you're okay with restaurants/bars like that then you'll love this place. It reminded me of a place you would find in Seattle or Portland but not Nashville. It definitely caters to a more "hip" vibe but anyone would be welcome. We... More
