We popped in for a glass of wine. Then decided to book dinner. The dinner was outstanding (Sole Meuniere, Coq au Vin and Polenta) and the sommelier in Paul chose a Petit Chablis to die for. My brother and I have lunched at the Colliban a couple of times a month since the store opened. I usually get poached eggs on toast no matter what time of the day. Last week it was just after midday and the waitress told me I couldn't have the eggs, she mumbled something which I couldn't understand. My brother and... More

The Colliban Foodstore and restaurant is a gem. It serves great coffee, great food and a visit there is just like calling in on a friendly neighbour. The Friday night menu is always inventive and booking for that is a must. Ask to go on the weekly newsletter to hear what's coming up. With its food and wine store, Colliban... More

Tucked away a short distance from the main street of Trentham is this gem of a bistro/ wine store. The interior is an Ali Baba's cave with displays of preserved food and some of the best wines in the world, Australian, French, Italian, and so on. The owner Paul is very knowledgeable on wines, and quite happy to share his... More

We went to Trentham just for a day out, not knowing much about the area. As it was about lunch time we tried to find somewhere to eat, and most places were packed out. Just as we were beginning to think we would be going without, we stumbled upon "Colliban Foodstore". Going in we found this place was near on... More

I've been to the Colliban Foodstore in Trentham a few times now over the last couple of years, and one of the good things about this place is their ability to learn and adapt and respond to their clientele. The place, which was good to start with mind you, has settled and found a solid core staff who run place... More

Management is inconsistent. We are an older couple. Management seemed to relate better to his peers. Other staff very helpful. Food okay.
