Description: Making its home in the picturesque little fishing village of Port Albert...
Making its home in the picturesque little fishing village of Port Albert, 'Wildfish' is South Gippsland's premier waterfront restaurant. With a simple philosophy of producing the freshest local seafood caught by local fishermen 'Wildfish' is much welcomed in the food and wine circles of Gippsland. Occupying the site of the old fishermen's co-op, diners are likely to see the fresh seafood on the menu being unloaded from the fishing boats on the wharf at the front of the restaurant. Port Albert is such a special place, with rich maritime history, beautiful natural scenery and surrounded by some of the countries best National Parks. A picturesque two and a half hour drive from Melbourne and you're already relaxed. Step into Wildfish and truly unwind. You can choose from a cocktail or fantastic local wines that you can enjoy at the beautiful handcrafted bar or sink into the cosy lounge before your meal. There is nothing better on a beautiful day than dining on fresh seafood on the deck which is literally on the water. You can enjoy artisan bread at your table takeaway cakes, croissants, pastries and more.. The service is warm and friendly, the food is exceptional and the surroundings amazing.

We visited Port Albert in search of the oldest licensed Pub in Victoria, a noble quest, with a view to having the famous Fish and Chips. Well our guide books were old but what a great surprise.... what we thought was a humble fish n chippie turned out to be a beautiful seafood restaurant. The surprises didn't end there a... More

I'm local and wildfish used to have a great reputation. I went their recently and it was absolutely awful. I ordered the most expensive thing on the menu which was the seafood soup thing for about 45 dollars and it was bloody disgusting. And it made me sick! Packed with butterfish. My husband got the flake which was twenty odd... More

The ambience was lovely, on a beautiful sunny day it would be perfect. The service was fine. The food was average, small piece of salmon lovely, salad was just mixed leaves, chips soggy, other seafood average. It was a lovely Mothers Day lunch because of the company and ambience, but wouldn't waste my time with the food.

Despite what they say, Wildfish NOT is the only place in Victoria where you can experience true seafood. It doesn’t happen here. Six of us, pre-booked over some weeks, dropped a considerable amount of cash here. Cash, because, even though nowhere full, they will not split bills! A self-importance that was shown further through the evening. Seriously overpriced and ordinary... More

I understand Excellent, Good, and Poor are all opinions, so is the way you perceive "the whole experience". We are not perfect, but we thrive to be. Is the second time you post this review, this time trying being a little less rude. Thanks for that. As I have explained to you, ( before I have replied and before Trip... More

Our table of 6 was waited upon by the most efficient, happy, delightful waitress Angela. She is such a credit to this restaurant. We were also greeted by the chef Vito who welcomed us cordially. On his recommendation we ordered the Zuppa di Pesce, a seafood medley in a rich tomato based sauce. The bread is also baked by Vito... More

We were a party of six dining on the past recommendation of another friend. Our welcome was cordial and, because my partner and I arrived earlier than the others, we began with a champagne outside the dining room on the wharf looking towards the sunset - a magic location, although a little breezy on the night. We selected from entrees,... More

Beautiful location on the wharf overlooking the bay. Food was fine, but nothing special. Scallops were without the roe, small amount, and we found the meals expensive for the quantity. We are not into " nouvelle cuisine " where you pay high prices for small dishes. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

A clean, modern, cosy and friendly welcome upon arrival. The staff were all friendly, professional and quick to help. Situated right on the water, the dining room provides amazing views of the boats and Harbour. Beautiful bread and wine to start the meal. The fish was fresh and delicious, caught that morning and both our meals were flavorful, hot, and... More
