Cuckoo must be good after all the years it been serving good food to patrons

The Cuckoo has been operating for longer than I've lived in the Dandenongs, That's 36 years. That must be because it has consistently served good food for good value with a happy joyous atmosphere. It is not only a favourite of residents in the Dandenongs but I think of many, many residents of... read more

The cuckoo restaurant Olinda is to those in the know a very special place.i am now called the older generation, and yet my grandmother my parents ,my children and my grandchildren have had many great meals there.it is about the experience.it looks like a chalet in Europe, and they have shows with live singing ,cowbell tricks and are very entertaining for both... Overpriced, cattle style smorgasboard, food was bland and warm from sitting under lights, tables and chairs uncomfortable, service very very average, and well overpriced . Better off going to Mcdonads, you will get better food at a 1/5 of the price.

We were here for a lunch with another couple and were quickly seated. The buffet is extensive and of good quality and the lines were long, sometimes none at all. The entertainment is dated, it is the same year after year but people come here for the buffet and experience and are more than likely not really interested or critical... More

Having never been to the Cuckoo Restaurant before & looking at the menu on line for afternoon tea we had high expectations. Other people who had been previously had said how good it was. It was just awful especially the entertainment. We were glad to leave. We will never go again. The food was below average and the big hype... More

I've been to the Cuckoo four times now and i do enjoy it because of the atmosphere and the inside culture, however the food really needs work.. it's a good buffet but it needs a lot more attention and they need to bring more food out more oftenly, because you have to get there early if you want a selection... Look, the food is not great...in fact it's very average...but, there is lots of it, although they're a little protective with their roast meats. The dessert bar is quite varied, and they make pancakes on demand. What is great...is the atmosphere of the Austrian decor, dress and song and the comedic show...very convivial...and very inclusive...a real dining experience. We took... More

I have always loved coming to this place. But, it is time to do changes, really... To start with the food, some of it was stale, it tasted like a leftover from yesterday, and it was not from the cake section on our last visit. I understand this hearty cuisine, but it is always same, the same. The decor of... More

The Cuckoo is a very popular restaurant at any time of year. The buffet is hearty with a nice variety of dishes. The beer is ordered in litres, just as a proper German restaurant ought to! The entertainment is great, especially for special occasions. They keep track of the occasion people are celebrating and make it memorable. Lovely German decor.... More

The place was beautifully decorated and it felt like I was at home the moment I walked in. We were served right away with soup and drinks but we wanted to just dig into the buffet. I started off with giant prawns and then the salmon, which were both really nice. For the mains, there was so much to choose... More
