Loved the buzz of this place on a Thursday Evening in March. Friendly, good service. Starter of butternut squash and sweet potato soup was - HUGE! And good. The kids had fish and chips and they were delicious. We all had pork belly - on a bubble and squeak type potato with wilted spinach and together with a jus and... More

The food is excellent. I would suggest skipping the entree entirely as the portions served for the mains are quite big and worth every penny. We had the port belly and it was the best we've ever tasted.

We hadn't booked but the staff were very welcoming and on our request to sit near the fire gave us a fabulous table on the proviso we would be out by 1pm. Our party was 3 adults and a 2 year old and with wonderful service we had a non-rushed lunch and were gone by 1pm. My husband loved the... More

Homely pub with a great menu - had great difficulty deciding between three dishes which is always a good sign! Vietnamese salad was fantastic, service was good and staff friendly. Will head then again for a meal when we're next in the Dandenongs.

Was the perfect lunch on a cool day in Melbourne. Was so cosy inside with the fire on! Staff were so friendly & efficient and the food was amazing. I just had a basic pie but it was absolutely delicious, the whole table loved their meals! Would love to come again when visiting Melbourne. Thanks for the great afternoon.

What a quaint little place to have a drink and a meal. Lots of people enjoying themselves, the bar is cool, old tavern style and the food is really good. Has a wide menu, the Steak was awesome. Will be back !!

Staff were very offhand with looking after us. We did not really feel welcome when they changed our tables, did not give us a wine list , they talked amongst themselves over our heads etc. They seemed to be much more friendly to the locals. Food was average.

On a stinking hot Melbourne day it was a delight to seek a little respite in the Dandenong Ranges and then find an 'English Pub' while looking for a place to have lunch. Before food was considered I had to take a sip of an English Real Ale. A pity perhaps that the Hobgoblin was "not yet in the country",... More

We have been to the Pig & Whistle about five times now.Excellent tasting food, great atmosphere however our last visit last year was disappointing. There was a very long black human hair inside the piece of chicken & I alerted the waitress about it,but I wasn't even offered some sort of discount or a friendly apology from management. The management didn't come out...
