Stopped here for a Saturday lunch. Mains are between 25-30 dollars which is great value for food that is closer to restaurant rather than pub food. Wash it down with one of the many beers on tap from small brewers. Have plenty of time as meals a little slow (and it wasn't busy) but we were in no rush so... More

We started with some bread which was very well toasted with a smokey flavour (loved it). Then we had the slow roasted lamb for two people. It was tender, full of flavour on a bed of perfectly roasted carrots, potatoes and silverbeet. Couldn't find any fault. We chose the chocolate gateaux for dessert and it was just divine. The restaurant... More

Just had a really yummy lunch at the royal George. The guy serving us had great knowledge of the food and wine/ beer on the menu. It was great to see an establishment use local beers and wine made by small producers. The food was really yummy and well cooked. All the fires were going so it was nice and... More

We took a winters Sunday afternoon drive from Melbourne and ended up in Kyneton. We were pleasantly surprised by this town, plenty of eateries and shops to stroll through. We chose the Royal George Hotel as our lunch venue arriving at 12.45pm, no tables available until 1.30pm so it gave us a chance for a stroll. On returning, we sampled... More

Excellent quality food, with a great menu full of selections. Huge range of craft beers on tap. Try the Igor by Red Duck, yum! And a cozy and relaxed atmosphere = win.

The new owners came in as of three weeks ago. There are now sixteen taps of craft beer (plus a hand pump!) and the food is tasty and wonderfully matched. Lucinda and Chris (and the team) are doing a wonderful job. We loved the zucchini flowers and the steak was to die for. Prices are reasonable for such gourmet fare.... More

Thanks to Jim & his team in the kitchen for what was a wonderful afternoon of sublime food & wine. Having eaten at the Royal George previously some 2 years ago (wonderful then too) I decided it was time to reacquaint myself. A quick look at their website & I'd noticed they had changed things up a little bit &... More

A relaxing Sunday lunch at this great venue. My husband enjoyed a beer and for me a local champagne. First course was zucchini flowers, absolutely delicious, followed by the most amazing double roasted lamb for two . Superbly cooked, it just melted in your mouth, served with new potatoes and a salad of tomato and cucumber it truly was an... More

We were happy to get a late booking for Valentine's Day- a 5 course set menu (3 choices offered for main) for $79. A great idea really as tables of 2 must be very difficult to deal with I imagine. We elected to have wine matched with the food- 5 half glasses, 1 per course, for an additional $40- a... More
