Great pub & casual dining in Kyneton

For a lazy weekend afternoon drink with a tasty bar menu, the Royal George is a good choice if you are in Kyneton. It is no longer a hatted, fine dining restaurant but the move to the middle-market has created an good, easy dining option for the town. Also, the Royal George has a nice selection... read more

We had our usual family day trip to Kyneton, we saw the Royal Georges beautiful facade and thought we would have a few drinks. The pub is homey and very rustic, the bar is a great place to come and sit down whilst having a proper craft beer. However I was wondering about the styling, some areas are beautiful and... More

Over the Easter weekend we had our wedding reception at The Royal George and it was the best decision we could have made. The food was wonderful, delicious and came out from the kitchen very efficiently. Every dish was beautifully cooked and the perfect temperature - despite having a number of dishes to get on the table very quickly. The... More

We stopped at the Royal George about 4 pm to make an early dinner reservation for the Thursday night 'Local's night'. After a few craft beers and much talk our very friendly hostess allowed us to be seated at the opening of the dining area. The food was excellent and the prices quite reasonable. If you are staying near Kyneton... More

We were seated, given menus & water then promptly forgotten about. Other tables filled and their orders taken, and we still waited and waited to be noticed. About to decide to leave when the waitress asked did we want anything else!!!! Oops very slack service. We did order the signature dish of Tuki 18hr slow cooked lamb with roast vegetables... More

A mid week visit to the country for lunch found this venue. Great selection of on-tap beers. Food choices were ample and well priced but heavily favoured meat and carbs. Overall a pleasant venue that has kept its country charm.

Big range of craft beer on tap -16 I think. Friendly and knowledgeable staff who can explain the beers and offer samples. Nice food too. I would highly recommend.

The new owners of the Royal George have transformed this hotel into one of the greats in the Macedon Ranges. With great, quality service from the owners, the dining experience was one to enjoy. I had the pleasure of enjoying the experience in great company that led us to spend quality time by the bar, trying new and delicious craft... More
