Nice atmosphere and good food

Enjoyed a nice evening dining at the Kookaburra Hotel. It was a busy night but the service and meals were great. Nice and local and very close to most accommodation.

We had the Garlic Bread to share, followed by Ragout and Blackened Barra. Both amazingly delicious with every bite. Dessert equally matched main! Their food never fails to disappoint and the staff are lovely! Drove from Horsham just to go here! 👌🏽

After a long day of exploring the Grampians, there was a wonderful welcome at the Kookaburra. The barramundi was perfect! The wine list is well chosen with a couple of wonderful local Pinot Noirs. Service was professional and very friendly.

When visiting Hall's Gap, we always make a point of eating at the Kookaburra. It's order & pay at the bar with a casual atmosphere, but don't be fooled, there's a lot of technique behind each sauce (the kangaroo, duck and blackened barramundi are always good).

Having scanned the reviews of this place, I have to say I can see a pattern emerging. A lot of good reviews, fair enough. However the bad reviews (which I will add to) are variations on common themes: 1) small portion for large amount - in my case a lamb rack equalling 4 tiny cutlets and steamed veg for the... More

Sorry that you feel that the prices are high. In the case of the lamb as with all meat in the last 6/12 months wholesale prices have increased by as much as 75% and we have no choice but to pass this on. Our lamb rax are pre cut to 280 to 300 gram which is considered in the industry... More

We ate at the Kookaburra in late Dec 2015 (about 6 weeks ago) and the food was very tasty and well presented. The menu choice was great, with something for everyone including vegetarians and the decor/atmoshpere was friendly and welcoming. Had a lovely waitress on our visit, which also added to the great experience.

S37°8.527' E142°31.152' this restaurant under the name of a hotel is a 36 years Halls Gap institution. The name is derived from the gregarious bird with a distinct taste in food and a catchy laugh. The reason this restaurant is called "hotel" dates back to the days that licenses only allowed pubs and restaurants to provide alcohol to the traveling... More

We came here for my birthday dinner. I had a steak that was good, but not outstanding. The key lime pie was very good.

I have dined at this venue when it was an Italian Restaurant, back a few years. The sign said Hotel & Restaurant, so we thought we would try it. We ordered our drinks and were asked if we were staying for dinner, it was 6.45pm and we said yes. After giving our name to the staff and whilst drinking, the... More

Booked ahead because they were very busy. Service was good, wine list was good, food was good. Happy to have had dinner here, possibly a bit overpriced but we understood that they have to make money when they can. Would eat here again.
