Food and service were ok but it's all a bit dated

Had lunch there with friends. The shared dips were a bit light on but the mains were fine - the pork was very good. Wines are fine - the Cab Merlot very drinkable. Their cellar door prices for wines are overpriced. But the place was certainly very popular so there's just see something we didn't... read more

Just a one hour drive down the freeway from Melbourne for a layback sunny Sunday afternoon at the Hickinbotham Winery. We enjoyed the rustic atmosphere under the gum trees while listening to a superb guitarist.. My choice was the HIX pilsner before ordering a seafood paella for two. A cabernet sauvignon did justice to an excellent meal. The restaurant and... More

All we enjoyed about our visit was the nachos. The service was subpar. Our menus had mould on the pages. The beer was average. The mains were awful. My husband's paella was lackluster. My mum-in-law's pork pie was tiny and very doughy, with some very strange acoutrement. My pizza was very soft, nearly undercooked. Everything was overpriced. I truly have... More

I'd had a couple of HIX beers and enjoyed it and wanted to see who made it. So on our annual Bro Brewery weekend, we headed to Hickinbothams to sample their wares. The beer, not the wine. We'll leave that for others. We were blessed with a great sunny day as we arrived to enjoy a pleasant rustic setting and... More

The winery has a really good rustic feel about it. A huge open fire and good bar area. It was cold and wet and we enjoyed lunch and listening to a great 3 piece band. There is a good outside area next to the vines the I will remember for summer. There Beer and Wine was good. Staff were helpful... More

We visited this winery as part of a bus tour and this was 1 of about 5 winery's we visited that day - and this one was the worst! Firstly greeted with the most foul look we could have received from the lady behind the bar which I later find out is the owner! And then when eventually served at... More

Thanks you for your kind words. You are obviously an old hand at winery visits. Its a great way to get cheap drinks isn't it. And its interesting that you already know about our guests urinating behaviour. So many bad experiences. Such disgusting behaviour. I wonder how you would feel in our situation. Especially when your visitors didn't even have... More

Came here for Easter lunch with the family, and it was well worth the drive. The atmosphere is relaxed. The food was amazing and the staff great. Loved the house beers. Highly rate it.

I had my 50th Birthday at Hickinbothams with a small group of friends. It is a great setting, great music, wine and food . We were well looked after by staff and owners and had a lovely afternoon enjoying the log fire and homestead/rustic feel. Would happily return for a nice lunch.

The person who whined recently.......a total jerk. I've seen grumpy customer but this person was particularly nasty. Swearing. Demanding (of course there weren't another 100pp there........) Ignore the tyrant! Hickinbotham is lovely! I'm a local but only discovered this gem 2 years ago. The food is so incredible! Meats done to perfection. Everything is made on premises- even the bread!... More

Hi Joanofarconeandonly As the manager of this venue I would like to thank you for supporting our staff. The customer in question was incredibly rude to them. How he can complain about our service is beyond me as they went out of their way to help him. Perhaps he should ask his friends why they went ahead and ordered and... More

Terrible service today meals not arriving no customer service made to feel that customers are an inconvenience, save yourself the time drive to one of the many better wineries on our beautiful peninsula.
