Earthly Pleasures Café is Belgrave's iconic gem, hidden by a lush garden, right in the middle of town. The building's impressive 20-foot high bluestone walls warrant a heritage listing, but today the café's mandate is modern. Earthly Pleasures has built its reputation on ethically sourced produce and small batch roasted artisan coffee that meets Melbourne's highest standards of coffee. The generously-portioned meals are made from scratch - everything from chutneys, pestos and homemade cakes. And the local craft beers and boutique wines impress the locals, while also drawing the inner city crowd to the hills. Built in the 1930s by the Jorgensen family (famous also for later building Montsalvat in Eltham) Earthly Pleasures moonlights as a function venue at night. If the walls could talk, they'd speak of bohemian parties starring the beatnik artistic community of mid-century Victoria. Whatever time of day you're in Belgrave, Earthly Pleasures is a must see It's the perfect place to dine or pop in for a drink before exploring the Belgrave streetscape, Puffing Billy, Trees Adventure or any of the beautiful national parks within a bluestone's throw.

Beautiful food, coffee and location

We are regulars in this cafe and love it; the building is beautiful- cool in summer, cozy in winter. The coffee is great and the food- oh so healthy and yummy. My favuorite is the upside down pear cake- delish!. Garden sitting is really pleasant as well and the toilets are sparkling.

Great for coffee, breaky or lunch, AMAZING desserts, try the cheese cake or chocolate muffin, always a great selection of fault specials and the staff are great. Just beware that the are open later but stop serving food at 3

Lovely building for sure, but we go there to eat, and the menu is very poor. Went for lunch, but ended up with two poached eggs on sourdough rye with sides of mushrooms and spinach, it was very poorly cooked and my friend had the open steak sandwich, which he did not finish as the egg was overcooked and the... The morning after a wedding in Belgrave, we decided to go here for breakfast, on the strength of some positive web reviews. The cafe is located in an old bluestone manor house. It is set in a lovely large front yard which faces Burwood Highway, but is set back a fair way (watch the gaps in the uneven bluestone pavers... More

A National Trust building that is beautifully maintained. We had a Sunday lunch there with friends. You can sit outside under the verandah, trees, garden or inside. Staff are friendly and courteous. Food was excellent for value and quality. We had the special Falafel Salad with a yummy dressing. Also the special Salmon spagetti that was delightful with great flavoured... More

Beautiful blue stone building and so much going for it but completely let down by the quality of food- admittedly only the breakfast was had but what a disappointment, matched only by the price.

Forewarned, say the pundits, is forearmed. In this case, I'd already viewed the breakfast menu on line, so didn't need to strain too hard to read it in the low ambient light of the venue when I arrived. But I hadn't noticed that Earthly Pleasures Café is situated in a National Trust property, so I thought I'd come to the... More

I used to eat here regularly and the food was just as good. Good choices for vegetarians and vegans from a reasonably sized menu. Food was fresh and tasty and the service was pleasant too. A great regular.

Earthly Pleasures is housed in a wonderful old blue stone building so the name suits. The food is very healthy in nature and the service very friendly. It's seems to be always open for breakfast and lunch but unfortunately not dinner....pity. It resides directly opposite the lovely old Belgrave Cameo cinema, very handy to have a meal and see a...
