The food was wonderful as always. But the long (very long) wait between courses with no explanation (And what seemed like a bit of a white lie) seemed very unbecoming. Very! We are sad about what's become of this Sydney institution :(

For many years Bistro Moncur has been a firm favourite of ours. On Saturday they excelled in organising a small family celebration dinner for 8 people. They were very helpful and detailed in drawing up the menu we wanted. The food and wines as always were sublime. Guests scraped their plates clean of every delectable morsel. Their range of food... Clearly Bistro Moncur is very popular. This perhaps explains why the service, while cheery, was very slow (service in Paris though can be decidedly uncheery sadly.) And with so many people trying to visit why our table was given away for being 15 minutes late despite our having confirmed we were coming. After a wait another was found. But that... More

We've come to Bistro Moncur a few times each year for decades; tho' I haven't reviewed it here before. It's always been very good to exceptional, this time truly great. We often share the starter and the desert and choose at least one main and an extra vegetable from the specials for the day. With this, we leave very well... More

This restaurant has to be one of Sydney's "must do" eateries. Always friendly. Always professional yet approachable. The staff know their stuff. The Pan Fried Ora King Salmon was cooked to perfection (I was given the choice of how I wanted it cooked, but left it to the chef - a good decision!) For dessert I chose the Grand Marnier... More

Had a delicious meal here, the steak was excellent and melted in the mouth! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I would certainly recommend!

I have been going to Bistro Moncur since I moved to Sydney in 1997. Its been going a lot longer than that. My most recent visit was with the friend I usually go there with and we discussed all the memorable meals we had had there and the good times. The funny thing is many of the staff are still... More

Finally made it to Bistro Moncur now that they take bookings. We started with heirloom tomato salad, a huge serving of spectacularly tasteful fruit with oil, basil leaves and small black olives, and a special of venison tartar, with beetroot and other trimmings. Followed by alaskan snow crab and sweet corn omelette with beurre noisette (entrée plate) and pan fried... More

Friendly and appropriate service, and tasty well prepared food. Bread is very more-ish. Over priced.

After work or weekend- wined down great meal service and cost. The Moncur you can choose to stay at the bar, to eat calmly at the open air (weather-dependent) bistro or the more conservatively styled restaurant. All is worth your situation and circumstance?
