Okay fish and chips

Friends and I visited this place after a long day at the beach. Two of us ordered fish and chips and another friend ordered a smoked salmon sandwich. The fish and chips were alright, not really something special, but I loved the plum sauce. The smoked salmon sandwich on the other hand was delicious... read more

If you are a tourist and visiting beautiful Watsons Bay, sorry but this is not good Australian seafood, so don't judge it as Australian. I had calamari and it was horrible. No taste, chewy and battered in the most tasteless, oily batter. It is not crumbed, which is the authentic style Australian Calamari is cooked. Even the chips are tasteless... More

I went to this restaurant with my mother (age 93) and brother and we found the fish and chips were soggy and overcooked. The fish fell apart and was difficult to eat with a fork, a spoon would have been better. The batter was soggy and slid off the tasteless fish. The chips were also soggy. Certainly not what I... I went with a group to celebrate someone's 80 birthday, the birthday girl insisted we go and sit outside on the wharf. I suspect reliving memories and past experiences. It was a little crowded and hectic but the group loved it. A very merry time. In fact the casual sort of out of control ambiance suited the occasion perfectly. Maybe... More

I took the trip over to Watson's Bay on the ferry with my son (7). My son wanted a hot dog in batter, but no luck so I suggested we both just have fish and chips. I asked if the "fish and chips" pack had more than one piece of fish and was told it had 2 pieces. We didn't... More

I don't know what to say other than that this place is living on two things only: history, and the fact that it is the only restaurant in town (OK, there are three, but all are under the name of Doyles). We ordered for takeaway, so eating in the park overlooking the bay was nice. But he fish and chips... More

This is a Watson Bay institution. But there's nothing special about this fish and chip joint beyond the location. If your starving be prepared for a long wait time even for take away.

Doyle's is a Bistro specializing in seafood. I had the barramundi & chips which comes with a small salad. One places an order outside and then take it to the seating area where there is a small bar serving alcohol. Coffee and ice cream is also available outside. The food was well cooked ans presented in a nice cardboard box... More

We always look forward grabbing a bite at Doyles as we come off the ferry from Circular Quay to Watson's Bay . There's always a long queue but its worth the wait . And then off to see the gorgeous views at The Gap which is just a short walk away from Doyles .

Wow. they do fish and chips well here. Great choice of fish and seafood. Wonderfully cooked. and they have a seating area overlooking the harbour where you can also order a drink of wine or beer. The perfect location for a great fish and chip experience. Want upmarket - the restaurant is 20 yards away. One of the top reasons... More
