Long queues and poor table service .. In fact rude.. The food is generous and nice but the whole take way and sit in concept is a bit dubious. All care no responsibility...

I agree with a previous reviewer's point regarding the most stupid system of ordering in the world and the fact that you can't buy a beer until you have collected your food. However, I had three pieces of lovely fried fish in batter for $6-80 which I thought was somewhat of a bargain in this town. Worth going to if... More

My wife and I have been to Doyle's a number of times and enjoyed the experience. However our visit yesterday was less than good. Having asked for one half lobster thermidor and one fish (barramundi) and chips we were asked "fried or grilled?" To which we replied "fried please" What actually came was an obviously lightly grilled Barramundi and a... More

We took an American visitor to Doyle's on the Wharf for 'proper' aussie fish and chips. The food was overpriced and the quality was embarrassing. When one of the best known fish and chip places in Sydney can't cook fish and chips properly, it is not a good look. Overpriced, greasy battered fish and soggy chips. We won't be going... More

The service is non existing. the food is quickly cooked by inexperienced careless staff. The reality is that the Doyle's Family" has a very tight purse, charge the maximum for the minimum is their Family Australian tradition .. and things do not imp[rove with time or generations. The genetic make up remains the same.

Many years ago I had an amazing dining experience at Doyles on the Quay; so, on my first trip into the city on this stay in NSW, I took the ferry to Watson's Bay for lunch to re-live a special memory. I ordered my usual Pinot Gris which, at $13 a glass, was the dearest I've come across to date... More

Serves bland soggy fish and chips. You have to pay 1.50 per ketchup and tarter sauce, none come with your food. Water 3.50 per small bottle. Most people from the US will be very disappointed at this price point. The seafood chowder is passable if you must eat here.

I have purchased takeaway food from here on a handful of occasions and have mostly been disappointed. Yesterday I ordered a seafood basket, a grilled barramundi with chips and a grilled salmon with mashed potato. In the seafood basket, the chips were greasy, the batter was soggy and the fish tasteless. The grilled barramundi was nice and the mashed potato... More

We took the ferry to Watsons Bay which is a lovely destination. This was a convenient place to eat, being on the end of the jetty where the ferry disembarks. It's an odd system where you grab a table, then order from the take away counter at the front (having realised they only take cash so dash to the ATM),... More

This is a great place for a casual lunch or even a late dinner. Great seafood ...fresh as can be and always something delicious to choose from. Love the Chowder and Doyles mixed plate...well priced.
