Description: Situated on the shores of Sydney Harbour on Rose Bay, Catalina is a beautiful, airy light-filled restaurant and bar with floor to ceiling glass sliding doors opening out onto a long curved balcony over the water. In keeping with its harbourside location, the menu features beautifully fresh seafood - Sydney Rock oysters shucked to order; house smoked Tasmanian salmon; whole snapper and barramundi, filleted on the premises - but also a wide range of the best meat and poultry Australia has to offer. A fabulous Australian and global wine list (over 600 wines) and welcoming, attentive service, make this restaurant a must-do Sydney dining experience. Come in all day for the full menu - Catalina doesn't close between lunch and dinner - or graze on bar food overlooking the most beautiful harbour in the world.

Well located harbor-side restaurant, with views from Rose Bay of Sydney Harbour, offering a superb menu in relaxed, comfortable, modern surroundings. The menu offers my favorite shucked Sydney Rock oysters, and was eagerly followed by the beef tenderloin, cooked to my liking - even though seafood is the specialty. The food is well presented, delicious and served by a professional,... More

Superb - highly recommend a visit on an evening they are holding a special event - like the "3 Island Dinner" - Both the food and wine outstanding - service was impeccable - good weather was the only thing missing from this evening...and now I know why everyone speaks so highly of this fine dining establishment.

A sunny day after days of rain and my adult daughter and I caught up for lunch at this iconic harbour front location. Stunning views, delicious food, professional service. I had oysters as an entree, my daughter had pan fried prawns. For main I had linguine with lobster, and the daughter had lamb. Desserts I had Banana and peanut butter... More

we had a great lunch here before the last test game for the British lions against Australia in July 2013 the setting on the beach is fantastic and the buzz before the game was superb with all tables taken and a great ix of mainly rugby dads before the late afternoon game. we had three large tables of "lads and... A celebration of a 30th birthday... Easy to book, on a number change over 8 was told that a service charge of 10% was obligatory - not a problem was my view. Difficult/rude when we brought a Bombe Alaska from the favourite gelato shop of the 30 year old for whom it is a tradition to have this cake on... More

As a restaurant we derive our income from selling food and beverage. Catalina has a no BYO policy for food and beverage, including birthday cakes. Instead, we offer a good selection of birthday cakes which are made on the premises. So unfortunately your evening started off on a negative note when you brought a cake in unannounced. However this is... More

We had a great meal here. The duck dish is the best duck we have ever had. In addition to this, Bec ordered a dish with a fried egg, and being pregnant thought it would be cooked through. When this was not the case, the waiter noticed her hesitation and immediately removed the dish and allowed her to order another.... More

We were a party of six for lunch and tried to have the winter special menu. Pumpkin chips on the risotto turned out to be tiny cooked cubes. Short of standing up and yelling we failed to get the staff attention three times and were actually fobbed off once. One waitress attempted to remove a dessert plate (the gelato was... More

I was shocked to read about your experience with the service at Catalina. As owners, we really insist on prompt, friendly, efficient service. It is something we strive for. You can see from the many complimentary comments about our staff and service from other contributors on these pages, that it is quite out of character for my staff not to... More

We went for lunch on a Saturday for a special occasion and it is expensive but worth it. My partner chose really well. The scallop starter with chorizo in the sauce was delicious and his duck main, confit and smoked, with a rhubarb tart was awesome. My choices were tastey but not as good. I'm not a vegetarian but like... More

Food always good, original thinking and good quality. NZ Salmon excellent, prawns outstanding. Halibut very good, snapper tasty. Deserts delicious. Wine list best of Aus, wine by the glass reasonable. Always busy and fun. Worth the drive out. Awesome view and atmosphere.

I took a client to Catalinas for lunch on a Friday. The food as previously experienced was outstanding, the view uninterrupted and service up to standard for a fine dining restaurant. We were seated next to the window- it was extremely windy. Being your sunglasses as it does get incredibly glary in the afternoon if they cannot roll out the... More
