Ate here with friends - beer is good, spicy edamame is tasty, sushi is yummo and the Japanese fried chicken? So good! I love the atmosphere at Sapporo. The staff are friendly and the prices mid-range. Great value compared to other Japanese places in the area. Great for watching the rugby on the big screen out the front too!

Sapporo has been in Crows Nest for at least 15 years, probably longer. Reliably good food and always friendly service. They import seasonal produce from Japan eg snow crab legs and will screen the rugby/sumo on the screen outside.

For many years we have been regular guests at this venerable restaurant which used to frequented by such Australian greats like the Late Ruth Cracknel. But lately we have been disappointed with the ambiance and cleanliness of this restaurant. A renovation is long overdue. Not just of the main hall but of the kitchen too. Food is good but service... I'm a die-hard Jap food fan and this restaurant is a good balance for affordability and quality. Compared to the other Japanese restaurants in the area, they are relatively cheaper but the food quality and selection is still very good. This has become my "I want Japanese but dont want to spend too much restaurant" now. Sake menu is diverse... More

We ate here on a very busy Saturday night. The service was unbelievably slow but the food was definately worth the wait. (I'm not sure why raw fish could take over 45minutes to arrive and would have loved for them to offer some snacks / bread while you wait) We had sushi and sashimi and both the salmon and tuna... I have been here many times to try the a la carte selections and seasonal specials such as the humble lobster miso shiru (soup). Truly spectacular and the clarity of the broth mixes well with the huskiness of the miso paste. I had a simple Zaru Soba (cold noodles) with a small plate of tempura mix to complement the wide... I come here every few months with my family. Great atmosphere and usually a rugby match showing on the big screen. You can order a la carte or from one of the set course combos - about 8 - 12 dishes for $50 - 60. Draught Japanese beer, range of wines and sake. Also BYO. The sushi, sashimi, beef, chicken... More

Sapporo has been in Crows Nest for years. They have very good sushi, though a bit pricey. Don't try to go there on a footy night if you're not a footy fan, it'll be packed with TV displays of the game!

Very good food and a great selection of sake. The place can be pretty noisy but there's a good atmosphere and outdoor (street) seating if inside gets too crowded. They have a projector screen at the outdoor seating and when the sumo world championships are on it is shown on the screen - very interesting setup. If you're a rugby... More

A very dear Japanese friend took us to this excellent restaurant during a one night stop over in Sydney. What a wonderful experience The food was devine. We choose a banquet that we felt gave a fabulous range of tastes my favourite being the spinach with sesame dressing closely followed by the sashimi and my husband loved the raw fish... More
