Gorgeous Food

Service was efficient and not intrusive. Food was gorgeous and presented beautifully. Not cheap but definitely worth a look for a special occasion.

I went with daughter for lunch and ordered the three courses specials. The chinese cabbage potato soup was weird. For course 2, my daughter had the Tomato dish. It was beautifully plated, the cheese, the tomato and the sauce worked really well. That was the dish of the day. For me, I had the shashimi, where the salmon was ok,... More

Amazing food, too bad there wasn't any japanese beer on tap. We celebrated my husband birthday here and went for ala carte menu (casual) instead of degustation. Excellent wagyu beef, done to perfection and plated so beautifully like an art piece. We had oysters and sashimi to share. Definitely a special dining experience...

The website says they can help if you have allergies or are vegetarian. I am both. I contacted the restaurant and they were amazing! Nothing was too much trouble, the food was astonishing in the Fine Dining restaurant. We went with friends who had the set menu but kept being blown away by my options which were beautifully presented and... More

Having eaten here before and enjoyed the set menu we thought we would try the casual dining area out the front. The meal was quite honestly flawed. Two dishes were quite completely underwhelming. The grilled octopus was rubbery and chewy, and the ten vegetable dish was uninspired raw vegetables with a dip e.g. One heirloom carrot split in half, two... More

I'd describe this restaurant as being more toward a 'fine dining' style restaurant than a more casual type of place, and the prices reflect this - it's certainly not an "Izakaya". It's not cheap, however prices are not too bad either, on the other hand. Value-wise, I'd say its 'middle of the road'. However, the décor is really pleasant, service... More

This is one of the few fine dining experiences in the north. It is a Japanese fusion, with set menus of delicately balanced vignettes - we chose the six course variant and were assailed by a progression of taste and visual feasts. This experience is highly recommended for the adventurous diner - but be warned that sensitive or picky diners... More

We have visited Waqu many times and it truly is a dining experience. The staff are very knowledgeable and service is great. The food is beautiful, both in presentation and taste.

We had the 8 course degustation menu and enjoyed every morsel Our group had both the wagyu sirloin and roasted lamb. Every dish was cooked to perfection. Best of all were the sauces which were interesting, light and simply divine - parsley puree, black almond puree, eggplant puree cauliflower mousse. The portions were just right for you to enjoy the... More

On arrival, it started off with a lack of a high chair. The service of the waiter was good, and the food was average for the price. The real kicker came when the owner told us to stop our couple friend's baby from crying. She had been sleeping all throughout the evening and had just woken up. With a bit... More
