Best wagyu beef ever!

On arrival, it started off with a lack of a high chair. The service of the waiter was good, and the food was average for the price. The real kicker came when the owner told us to stop our couple friend's baby from crying. She had been sleeping all throughout the evening and had just woken up. With a bit... More

My girlfriend took me here for my birthday dinner. Having heard excellent reviews we were looking forward to a special night of exquisite modern Japanese. We opted for the six course degustation. The mains and the desert were tasty, but didn't fill our staving bellies after waiting up to 40 minutes between dishes! Unfortunately it was one of those degustation... More

One of the best Japanese meals outside Tokyo. The fine dining set menu offers dietary alternatives which is uncommon. Wine list and sake list is extensive and high quality. Service friendly and impeccable, accomplished Japanese wait staff explain each course as it is served. The addition of a traditional Kappo dining area is a welcome innovation. The same high quality... More

I recently enjoyed the 6 course degustation menu at Waqu as my birthday celebration with my partner. We went on a Sunday night and although the other tables were all occupied, the dining room is spacious and the ambience was quiet and pleasant. The food was absolutely delicious from first course to last, and the waiter helpfully explained each dish... More

I love Japanese restaurants and Waqu for ticks all the boxes. The atmosphere is traditional Japanese with clean lines and good spacing. A good wine list with an assorted sake menu. I had the 5 course lunch which I enjoyed immensely. The Waygu sirlion was melt-in-your-mouth tender. The service was exceptional. I went there with my stepson who in wheel-bound... More

We've been to Waqu the year it opened and several times since. On their 10th year in the business, they are still great! Very creative and tasty food. Lactose intolerant patrons and vegetarians have options also. One small comment is that I will lose the foam in the dishes. Was creative a few years ago, but seems out of fashion... More

We took the 6 course menu, the other options were 8 course or a la carte at the front of the restaurant. The staff are very professionaland the food excellent. Decor is very nice as well. You would pay 2 - 3 times for comparative food at some of the "name" venues. Our dishes inluded kangaroo, tout, octopus, soup. There is... More

We saw and entered this restaurant on their first week of trading and was a bit hesitant about the Japanese degustation. But after we had the first dinner it was very impressive and got hooked. We make it a point to go and check their season menu - they change every season. Then 1 year ago when Kappo dining was... More

We have eaten at Waqu at least 8 times over the pas 2-3 years. Their menu is seasonal so it's good to try all 4 seasons. The service is impecable, the food presentation is beautiful and the food is absolutely delicious. I would totally recommend it.
