My Waqu Experience

We decided to try Waqu just out of interest. I made a booking for a Sunday night after looking up details on their website. The booking experience was easy as just gave them my name and phone number and the day and time we would come. On the day Waqu sends you an SMS to confirm if you are still... read more

We enjoyed our dinner ar Wayu. Amazing and very fresh food, and also a very good service. Definitely recommended to everyone - even if you live further away.

Its one of the first places in Sydney, I went with my group of friends when we arrived in Sydney as culinary students...fast fwd a few years, its where I brought my husband to be for a Valentine's and again just last week..... WAQU is a cozy restaurant which offers good food for a very reasonable price (compared to numerous... More

We had the six course degustation menu here last night unbelievable that a restaurant of this size can produce such extraordinary quality and finesse in its menu please see attached menu in photos. This was a truly exceptional meal and easy to see why it is considered among the 10 best Japanese in Australia

This was a simple small family get together. The ambience is modern. The restaurant is divided into more casual ( front) and a section at the back where we sat, so I can only comment on this section. The menu is divided into fixed price banquet/degustation style, and a la carte (but with no overlap in the selection). We liked... More

I celebrated my birthday with a group of friends (6 of us in total) at Waqu and we had the six course menu. The first course was egg tofu with jelly, I did not mind that it was a cold dish (even though I'd much prefer warm tofu) but it was the odd fishy taste it had that turned me... More

I hired the back room for our Christmas party....the staff took ages to come through, take our orders, we needed a cork screw... well that took 10 kinutes to turn up, not because they did not have one....WAQU had too few staff multitasking and doing too much...and not very well. Dared have a family celebration at WAQU just 2 weeks... More

Scallop Sashimi was excellent. Great Barramundi in reduced Beetroot sauce. Nice Wagyu steak with different condiments. However, Zucchini flower tempera was disappointed. Reasonable priced but decor was not out of the ordinary.

Waqu is really not a Japanese restaurant any more, or perhaps it's what is served in modern Japanese restaurants in Tokyo these days, I don't know. it's chefs do however excel at putting the Japanese obsession with detail into every dish presented. The degustation is always worth a try and even though it is not the cheapest in town and,... More

Excellent quality japanese fusion, lovely decor and ambiance. We all had the 6 course "tapas' at $69/head with a different seasonal menu from our previous visits. This is fine dining at a budget price. My wife and I had been on 3 previous occasions and were keen to introduce some friends to Waqu. The quality of the dishes I mention... More
