Mar Plata has a stunning location and view, with really well done decor. Oh, and the food...phenomenal! The Red Snapper TarTar was divine, as was the flank steak with chimichurri. It's Argentinian style food with a local flair. We were beyond impressed. While Maria's is charming and a local favorite, if you want something just a little less "American" and... More

I was recently in San Pancho for a wedding and came to Mar Plata twice during my stay. The restaurant is great, open air overlooking the sea (through some villas!) and towards the sunset. There are tons of Moroccan lamps hanging overhead making the restaurant unique and romantic. The first visit was for a dinner with the family. The food... More

Glad we found this "out of the way" place...well worth the trip from Sayulita! Was a great meal from start to finish. Definitely get the red snapper tartare to start! cool setting, as well...and loved the lighting.

Whenever we are in Punta Mita we drive to Sayulita for boogie boarding and the next town over (San Pancho/San Francisco) for dinner at Mar Plata. It's beautifully decorated with lots of hanging Moroccan lamps, and the food and drinks are top notch. The fresh fish entree is always spectacular, and there is a great selection of steaks if you've... More

We (party of four) visited Mar Plata at the end of February. It was less than a 2-minute walk from the house we had rented but it would've been worth a 2-hour forced march. The ambience was truly unique - from the arty, whimsical decor to the eclectic music selection to the inventive lighting. Warm and friendly reception and service... More

First time to MarPlata and we found the found the food and service to be very good, but also very expensive. The ambiance is wonderful and it is located off the beaten path.

We first experienced Mar Plata after a very long travel day. We couldn't find our rental and stopped a the restaurant to ask for directions and recharge. The wait staff there was extremely friendly and soothing, saying they would be glad to take a look at our map while we gathered ourselves. We ordered drinks and munchies while they looked... More

We first discovered Mar Plata about 3 years ago when I read about it in one of the glossy lifestyle magazines published in this area. It has an amazingly cool decor, a delectable menu, and fabulous service. They got a Conde Nast top rating for being one of the coolest, hippest restaurants in this area of Mexico. We found ourselves in... More

visited mar plata when we were in San Pancho in 2009. Wanted to go again this time but they didn't open till half way through our trip. Went on the first night. Confusion. some meals not what people expected--especially the steak. They brag about their Argentinean (I think) beef, but it was a disappointment. I had mushroom pasta and I... More
