Great Night

Had a fab night for the Elvis Tribute Night, meal and service was excellent. Lovely curries, naan bread and sides as usual, live locally so able to walk here and enjoy a bottle of wine. Waiters happy to give advice and amend any dishes to the way you like them

I started going here years ago, but the food and service went down hill and it was very expensive. After seeing a discount voucher in the local paper, I thought I would give it a go, but I didnt have high expectations. We where greeted with a warm welcome. The food was a real shock as it was so good.... More

A group of us were having a take-away evening. Some were having Chinese others Indian. As we done before we went to the Barry Gate first to place our order. This was about 7.20 pm. It took 10 minutes for them to acknowledge our waiting to order and another few minutes before they took our order. There were 5 curry's, 5... More

We changed our regular Indian takeaway to this one because the last had changed and the food had become bland and poor. The Barry Gate was amazing, couldn't fault them .... until the management change. I am sorry to say, in my humble opinion, the food standard has gone downhill, the portion size is less, and the price has increased... More

Since a recent refurbishment and new management, this is a restaurant which tries very hard to raise the traditional curry house experience.Being an avid curry fan for many years and having eaten them all over the world,it is great to find a restaurant which offers a varied and interesting choice of meals catering for both the expected offerings and some... I have been to Barry gate both before the change of ownership and since. The food is still of high quality. My partner and I were greeted with a smile and shown to our table. It was last Saturday and at 8pm, the restaurant was busy as expected. We did have starters, and they arrived promptly considering the number of... More

We had a family meal at The Barry Gate on New Year's Eve, with a table of seven. When I phoned up to book a table, I was told they had 'a' table available at 8:30 on New Year's Eve, and they were very busy. I therefore booked the table, thinking the restaurant would be really busy. We arrived at... More

We went for an anniversary meal, I had naga lamb, food was lukewarm not hot, plates were not hot so food got cold, my husband had Welsh lamb curry, I think they forgot to add the curry, very bland and dry not enough sauce, I wish they would learn to speak English as I felt i wasn't understood in anything... Having used the Barry Gate for a number of years without any complaints we were very disappointed on our recent visit. Having ordered over the phone we were advised under NEW MANAGEMENT with a new menu. When we picked the meal up were extremely shocked as the cost had increased by approximately £12.00. Stated my annoyance and was advised that... More

I went here one night as a spur of the moment thing late one evening midweek. The place was totally empty and the owners were surprised.that we had asked to sit in and eat. That said, the staff were very friendly and made every effort to ensure we enjoyed our meals and the experience, making conversation and making us feel... More
