Description: The Blue Anchor Inn was one of the first pubs in South Wales to produce quality bar meals back in the 1980's. Since then we have gone from strength to strength, winning awards including the South Wales Food Pub of the year for four years,2013, 2011, 2008 and 2006. We are Egon Ronay recommended and are included in the Michelin Eating out in Pubs guide since 2007(the only South Wales entry in the guide), as well as the AA Pub Guide 2013, where we appear as Pick of the Pubs for the Vale of Glamorgan. As well as food who could forget real ales! we have always been a forerunner in the promotion of real ale in South Wales. We were the first winner of the CAMRA pub of the year award back in 1983 and we have maintained our position to the present day by being included in the current 2013 CAMRA Guide.

We are visiting our friends in Wales and we have been lucky enough to visit and eat at the Blue Anchor Inn on two occasions... The ambience is fantastic with little nooks and crannies, open fires in many rooms...great place to explore. The food will not disappoint and very friendly staff....would highly recommend

Six of us went there for lunch last Wednesday, we weren't disappointed. The food was as the reviews described - excellent. Between us we had 3 steaks, 2 gammon and 1 duck. Clean plates all round. The staff were attentive and the service was good. Would certainly recommend a visit.

Popped in there for lunch on Monday. I had the gammon which came with fresh pineapple (not tinned) fantastic home cooked chips. My husband had the beer battered cod and chips, which he said was delicious. The staff made a fuss of our crazy spaniel as usual, as ever another lovely visit, we'll be back for again for lunch soon!!!

Visited here for the first time. Fabulous building and quirky inside with snugs and hidden ares to sit. Had lunch on a Saturday and it was fantastic value. Great food and great service.

This review should have been done in June 2014, when we actually visited as part of a Trafalgar tour, but I couldn't recall the name of the pub.[cant imagine why?] This night was one of the more magical nights of our tour. Coming from a country that only dates back 200 years, the age and the history of this place... More

I have been using the Blue Anchor for decades and am yet to find a pub to beat it. The bar is the best and the food is excellent! A must to visit!

Very good meal and not a long wait considering there were 15 of us and we did not book in advance and we all paid individually. Food was piping hot and very tasty. Compliments to the chef.

Out for New Years Day lunch with a party we were informed by the Landlord that we were not welcome - after we had all eaten, of course. He reckoned that we cost him money by hogging the tables. The food was fine although portions a touch on the small side. Due to the fact that the majority of our... More
