Description: The Blue Anchor Inn was one of the first pubs in South Wales to produce...
The Blue Anchor Inn was one of the first pubs in South Wales to produce quality bar meals back in the 1980's. Since then we have gone from strength to strength, winning awards including the South Wales Food Pub of the year for four years,2013, 2011, 2008 and 2006. We are Egon Ronay recommended and are included in the Michelin Eating out in Pubs guide since 2007(the only South Wales entry in the guide), as well as the AA Pub Guide 2013, where we appear as Pick of the Pubs for the Vale of Glamorgan. As well as food who could forget real ales! we have always been a forerunner in the promotion of real ale in South Wales. We were the first winner of the CAMRA pub of the year award back in 1983 and we have maintained our position to the present day by being included in the current 2013 CAMRA Guide.

Good food in relaxed atmosphere

This restaurant is in a lovely old stone building, which is a bit like a maze inside. We had a delightful meal for two here over Easter. The pub is such a lovely venue, full of history, low beams and enclaves. The lighting in some parts is challenging. We had a lovely 3 course meal which was very good value for money. I would not hesitate to recommend.

this lovely inn is very old and tall customers may have to stoop a bit to avoid getting a headache! the food however will not give you any problems. nor will the beer! The Blue Anchor has many accolades for both beer and food all deserved, excellent bar food and also an upstairs restaurant provide for all budgets and tastes.... More

The Blue Anchor is a favourite haunt and my latest visit did nothing to change my view. Staff are friendly and welcoming, Food tasty and varied and the atmosphere is great. You won't be disappointed if you pay them a visit

Have been going to the Blue Anchor for several years. The setting is beautiful, an old country pub, that is as is with no pretentions or aspirations to an invented sense of authenticity. The menu is always excellent varied, with classic pub favourites, and a more bistro-esque selection too. The pub meals are huge, and the prices are pleasant surprise... More

We celebrated our friends birthday. There were eight of us on a Friday night. We sat upstairs which I found cosy and candle lit. Food and atmosphere excellent and we have been back twice more! We live nearby so will be using more regularly now we don't need babysitters!

Visited sat 21st march with 4 friends. The pub downstairs is a lovely warm old style true pub with wood smoke and dog asleep on the flagstone floor. Good choice of ales and decent prices. We were seated promptly and ordered drinks which came right away. On ordering our dishes we waited about 45 mins and then the food arrived.... More

I visited with a group of friend we sat in a cosy lounge near a fire. Drinks and meals were reasonably priced. And bar staff friendly. They were accommodating and helpful with arranging a meal for someone who has a range of food allergies. All meals were enjoyed. Will return again

I have been here on a few occasions and have always been impressed. I visited recently for Sunday lunch. They do a 3 course menu for £15.50. Wow! What great value for money. Each course I had was delicious! Lovely setting and relaxed service top this off. Highly recommended
