Description: The Blue Anchor Inn was one of the first pubs in South Wales to produce quality bar meals back in the 1980's. Since then we have gone from strength to strength, winning awards including the South Wales Food Pub of the year for four years,2013, 2011, 2008 and 2006. We are Egon Ronay recommended and are included in the Michelin Eating out in Pubs guide since 2007(the only South Wales entry in the guide), as well as the AA Pub Guide 2013, where we appear as Pick of the Pubs for the Vale of Glamorgan. As well as food who could forget real ales! we have always been a forerunner in the promotion of real ale in South Wales. We were the first winner of the CAMRA pub of the year award back in 1983 and we have maintained our position to the present day by being included in the current 2013 CAMRA Guide.

Growing up my father always spoke about how good the food was and told me about how the place was how he remembers it as he was growing up, with small bars and a giant thatched roof, I visited there and it hasn't seemed to have changed. it is a great place. I went there to celebrate my friend finally... More

As you know from our other reviews, 'my husband and I' have a date night every Thursday so most of our reviews coincide with that as we love to eat out. We frequent this beautiful pub quite often, and was a great choice for my birthday so we decided to break tradition and visit on Tuesday. There was no difference... More

we have been using the Blue Anchor more than we normaly would for meals out. There are always different and exciting starters and the main course is always really good. The last twice i have had the Chicken Tai curry, it really is very good and dances on the taste buds. I asked about the real ale being so cold... More

I've visited the pub a few times but the first time I've eaten in the restaurant. I wasn't disappointed in the least! The charm of the place is evident, glad we booked our table as it was very busy - as a good restaurant should be on a Saturday evening. The menu wasn't too crowded - sometimes too much choice... We called at this pub and decided to eat. The beer is always good and the food though expensive was of good quality. We had a tab and paid and on looking later discovered that we had been penalised for ordering 4 half pints to the value of 40 pence. SO BEWARE OF THE CHARGING AS THIS IS NOT DISPLAYED... More

Without booking very surprised to get a table and had their three course Sunday menu. Different starters ordered for the 3 of us were very good Roast Lamb with 5 different vegetables served separately followed by almond and cherry slice with rasberries and strawberries and a rhubarb brulee rounded off a great lunch

We dinned in the restaurant up stairs . They sat us straight away, we didn't have reservations and the place had a lovely rustic feel to it. Our servers were attentive and very welcoming . My partner and I had three courses . My patè was great and I had the duck , it was cooked beautiful . My partner... More
