Tasty stop off

The restaurant in this pub is worth the visit to Welshpool which, on its own, didn't do it for me. We needed somewhere where we could take our puppy and this place was the best from the small selection available. The food was REALLY good. My chicken in mushroom sauce with crushed new potatoes... read more

Having stopped off at this hotel last night, I was pleased to find out this place does real ale, even if it is only 2 hand pumps. Nice cakes were available, the lemon drizzle went down very well. Hot drinks available, speed quick. Staff + locals friendly. Her Majesty the Queen apparently stayed here in 1995 according to the locals,... More

Have stayed before but think the Hotel has changed ownership. It was still fairly comfortable with a nice "feel" but I thought the choice and quality of food was not as good. Having said that, the staff are really great and well focussed on customers. Would definately stay there again. It's a nice, above average town centre pub hotel.

We only popped in to get out of the drizzle! We ordered gammon for myself and salmon fish cakes for the wife, she was most pleased with her choice! My gammon was very nice too, big chunky chips, very happy and glad we popped in!

A very superior hotel/restaurant. The hotel looks lovely but living in the area I have never stayed there. When we went in for a drink and a cake I was very surprised at the price! The seating area is nice. Not a very good car park, only for guests.

Nicest mushroom sauce ever with my chicken dinner, served with delicious vegetables, by the most personable young waiter who couldn't do enough for us

Really good live music on a Friday night that we spent in Welshpool It's a shame the draft beers and Guinness tasted a bit funny! Wife had wine which tasted off. Stick to bottled beers!

Spent a night at the hotel as working in the area. Room huge , clean and has everything you may need. Staff seem ok , friendly enough. TV reception terrible so don't get excited about watching it ! It's also tiny. Go out and explore Welshpool, it's a lovely little town.

We had gone out to buy a tree at the Dingle. Saw the Royal Oak from the street as we drove through thought "that looks a bit dreary, was it open"; drove around the local countryside for a while but gave in and went back to it. Good start was the car parking, then the good choice (not excellent but... More
