Excellent Bread

The 3 different types of bread that came as a complimentary were lovely. The staff were very good and friendly. The lunch menu appetising the actual lunch slightly disappointing, I think I caught them on an off day, so do not want to be too critical. But I could forgive them anything for that bread.

This place used to be good for Food in early 2014 but been back twice since and poor. Called in with my very elderly parents who have mobility issues at 17.35 on a July 15 Sunday. I checked first before getting out of the car that they were serving drinks and there were people in the bar and foyer drinking... More

I visited this hotel last night 8th July for a evening meal. I began with fish soup. The size of the soup bowl was so small a large boiled duck egg would have filled it!! After 5 or 6 soup spoons my bowl was empty. For my main meal I selected grilled mackerel, when it came there were two mackerel... More

I had the pleasure of staying there on the 4-07-2015, But I have pneumonia. The Guys and Girls were Fantastic, they looked after me making sure that if I needed anything THIS WAS NO PROBLEM. If recommend it with out a doubt. But ask for a room at the back as the streets can get very noisy. 100% 100 %... More

We were a party of five walkers, staying nearby. The hotel was not recommended but nevertheless we went to the restaurant. We all had different things and nobody was disappointed with anything at all. In particular the lamb and beef dishes were really excellent. My starter was a trio of trout which was amazing, followed by duck which was fine... More

Arrived by recommendation, having been told it was "a little pricey"... they didn't lie! We went at 6pm, not realising service wasn't until 6.30pm. We were shown the menu and quickly decided to have the steak... and were then told service hadn't started yet. Wish we had been told sooner but we're laid back so we didn't fuss. Food came... More

Fabulous restaurant in one of Machynlleth's oldest hotels. Excellent service with friendly staff. All food is locally sourced and very well prepared with special's every day as well as a staple menu.

I ate at the Wynnstay because I was staying there, but I'm so glad I did. The food was exceptional, beautifully cooked local food, and utterly delicious. I later found out that the proprietor is an award winning chef who competes for Wales and has cooked for their First Minister and guests, so on balance its not surprising. In fact... More
