Like waiting for a perfect pint of Guinness, it takes time but is worth every single second. Ok - so the service is a bit slow; but once the food appears in front of your place, it's easy to forgive and forget. From the sizzling dishes to delectable desserts every mouthful is a little piece of heaven on a plate.... More

Reminiscent of the sort of courtyard pub one might find in Pollperro, right in the centre of Kington, but lurking in the kitchen away from the 'late 80's' and now dated restaurant, is a seriously good chef. Try the baked egg starter, served in a small ramekin drowned in melted cheese, heaven, as were the steaks. I would go again.

The food was well cooked, hot, and attractively served. The service was good, nothing was too much trouble, and the waitress seemed to enjoy her job.

Admittedly when me and a friend visited there was a stag party in. However we had to wait over 45 minutes for our lunchtime food order (neither complicated dishes) and at no point did anyone apologise. The good is also overpriced for what you get and not that good quality.

Was not sure of the place when we walked in however our lunch was very good. We ate off the menu & the specials board. The Monkfish Thermidor was lovely & the pastry on the Steak & Ale pie deserves a special mention. Also a great pint of guiness.

We ate out here on one of the hottest days of the summer. But there was a lovely cool outside dining area and we enjoyed excellent pizzas and a delicious New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc - both reasonably priced. Service was friendly and I would happily return if ever in the area again.

We actually stayed in the inn which had individual chalet type rooms but more luxurious and spotlessly clean. All the staff were friendly as were the locals. They had a big restaurant and the food was superb, hope to stay there again soon.

Lunch for our walking group of 11 after 7 miles on Offa's Dyke was voted the best for a while. Everyone without exception really enjoyed their food from baguettes through sandwiches to enchiladas, monkfish and a beef roast with lots of veg! Staff could not have been more accommodating and helpful, a busy and friendly atmosphere in the restaurant made... More
