This hotel and restaurant sits in a spectacular location overlooking the Menai Straits on the Ismand of Anglesey. Recently under new management it offers a wide range of cuisine from bar meals to a full dining room service. A good range of beers and wines are available and a menu with some good choices often with locally sourced ingredients. Local mussels and fish are specialities and well worth a try. With friendly and helpful staff and meals at very reasonable prices this is a lovely spot to enjoy a relaxing spot, good food and drink with superb views over the Straits. In the summer months. outdoor dining at tables at the water's edge is particularly pleasant. It can get a little crowded in high season but bookings can be made for the restaurant to avoid disappointment. During Spring and Autumn it is rarely crowded but has a good all-year round reputation with local customers. The hotel is residential and has a good reputation but, never having stayed there myself, I cannot comment on the residential element of the hotel.

Good food and friendly service

Overlooking the Menai Strait, the Gazelle has a great location with amazing views. Food was good quality and plenty of it. Welsh rib eye steak was great. Puddings are not that inspirational but we've had worse. Locals use the pub and it was fairly busy for a Thursday night but service was prompt... read more

We ate here yesterday (31 May 2015), sadly it is the worst meal we have ever had. We ate in the bar and the bar staff were very friendly and her service was very good. Our starter of garlic bread was delicious and we thought the rest of the meal was going to be the same. My roast pork was... More

Really wanted to love this place and for it to be a gorgeous little find in Anglesey, but it just wasn't... The location is beautiful and I would probably return for a drink in the sunshine to enjoy the view but would avoid the food and inside the pub! The pub looked to have lots of different seating areas and... More

Went with my wife's cousin and his partner who are Menai Bridge locals. We hadn't booked and were lucky to find a table because the place is very popular indeed. We all ordered from the dinner specials, the ladies had the cod with smoked bacon, the cousin had the chicken and cous-cous, I had the pork chop. Whilst the other... More

The setting is perfect, right on the edge of The Menai Straits and in spitting distance of Bangor Pier. We went there for Sunday lunch this weekend. OK, the weather wasn't perfect but you can't have everything. The restaurant isn't over large but has recently been refurbished and is very nice. When we arrived, there was only one other couple... What a surprise ! After visiting the Island this was my first visit for a drink. Whilst the building / grounds are nothing special the hotel, pub interior quality was very high level and Robinson's have clearly invested bringing the pub up to date, nothing too cutesy but classically modern (tarten carpets, red leather chesterfield etc). I'll be back for... More
