We visited this pub/restaurant in mid-June 2014. The main bar area is light and airy. The bar staff were welcoming. We didn't dine there but we had some local cider and it was very refreshing. Toilets were clean (mens) and the general bar/restaurant area looked very clean and had a comfortable atmosphere.

I'm a regular Wetherspoon customer - in fact I'm a big fan of theirs. Had breakfast at Monmouth recently - up to the usual good standard. No complaints there. However the toilets in this hotel are not the best - they're old and a bit shabby, but that's because of the age of the building. However, there is no excuse... More

A very busy pub which serves food. Very popular for eating particularly at weekends. Good value food. Nothing fancy but good honest pub food. Drinks cheaper than average. Staff friendly.

We had visited this particular pub on a number of occasions in the past and had always enjoyed fine quality food. We were not disappointed on this, our latest visit. We were there on a Thursday and took advantage of the 'curry club' menu - a curry and a drink for a set price. When the meals arrived the portions... More

Our first experience of a Wetherspoons hotel. And a pleasant one too. Craig on the desk could not have been more welcoming or helpful. The room was large and modern as was the bathroom. Nice touches like bottled water, biscuits and tea and coffee making facilities all for £34 a room. Great old County town hotel, no doubt saved from... More

Given my disappointment expressed in an earlier review of a Weatherspoons experience. Very pleased to record that a visit for lunch in this old hotel in Monmouth was a pleasant experience. After a long drive the light lunch of Ham, eggs and chips washed down with a pint of Abbot ale set us up for continuing on into South Wales.... More

Very good value for money. A good idea to have a child friendly room. I can recommend the fish and chips.

We all know what we're getting with a Wetherspooons. This is no better or worse than any other. It's definitely the cheapest place to eat out in an evening, though that also means it's noisy, the tablers are sticky and the food is just average. I had the burger which was perfectly fine. My friends had, lasagne wihich was as... More

We went as a party of 8 adults and 2 young children. You can usually find a corner where the children will be safe and will not annoy other diners. The food is good and cheap and we particularly welcomed scampi back on the menu this time. The last few times we had been to a Wetherspoon restaurant scampi had... More

Booked lunch for Christmas Day, then spent weeks wondering if I had done the right thing. Shouldn't have worried, it was brilliant. The soup was to die for, there was loads of Turkey and And the Christmas pud & brandy sauce was lush. The service was excellent and the whole atmosphere was festive. Incredible value for money.
