We've just had an evening meal here with our four year old and the food and service were great. A great atmosphere to bring a child to in the restaurant side. We'd not been to Y Branwen before despite being regular visitors to the area, but now we've found it, we'll be sure to return. From the road, there's not... More

Nice food, good home cooked chips but the meals lacked a few vegetables. Mainly just garden peas with each meal. The local cask beers tasted very nice but for a couple of days they were cloudy. The Doombar was fine throughout.

We arrived without booking at very busy time. The staff were so pleasant and found us a table almost immediately. The food when it came was extremely good and everyone attentive. We will be visiting regularly from now on and recommending it.

A good sized pub located bellow the castle well furnished with a good selection of draught bitter topped with a pleasant selection of wines, will be enjoying another drink here at our first opportunity

We were on a golfing holiday based at the dormy house at Royal St Davids, I had booked a table for ten. As soon as we arrived we were made to feel welcome, the menu was varied and the food was delicious.

We came relatively late in the evening and without a reservation, but were made to feel very welcome and found a nice table for two of us. There isn't a hugely varied menu but the dishes on offer do cater for a bit of a range and when the food came it was delicious and the portions were a good... More

The Caribbean restaurant was highly recommended to us and a few minutes walk from where we were staying but it was fully booked. Y Branwen was almost empty on a Saturday night and so was our second choice with very low expectations. However, super service and lovely food, reasonably priced too. Happy to go back again, although as it would... More

There is a very limited choice of places to eat dinner in Harlech in March during the week, but the Y Branwen was open. It titles itself 'Brasserie & Bar' which I think is a good description. The entrance from the main road was into a bar area, sporting a dart board and TV. Some nice ales on tap including... More

We visited the restaurant last night. Y Branwen looked a lovely place to stay but we only wanted to eat on this occasion. The bar area was welcoming and there was a good range of beers. What struck us was the happy atmosphere, some residents, some visitors and locals mixing together well. Substantial portions of good food served by cheerful... More

I was a little put off by the outside but it's definitely a must and we were annoyed that we only went there on our last night. The staff couldn't do enough for you and the food was good home cooked pub grub. I would definitely recommend booking as it was very busy.
