good 'pub grub'

late lunch early tea here after busy day exploring, local areas beaches and small towns. Able to cater for my partners gluten free diet, huge portions of tender gammon, home cooked chips, juicy steak and fresh salad- good value for money and friendly 'mine host'

We tried many of the "locals" in Aberaeron but decided this was the "classic" pub to have either a quick pint or stay for a meal. The Landlord and staff made us feel welcome and the meals were all "above standard" pub grub. The outside of the pub does not do the service and atmosphere of the pub justice -... More

Booked this pub for a family meal (a party of 16). Excellent service staff could not do enough. The food was all home made all meals were large and a good selection. Definitely worth a visit. Don't be put off by the look of the pub.

We came across The Royal Oak when visiting Abernean. It was around lunchtime and we needed a venue that was both dog friendly and could also accommodate a mobility scooter. The landlord could not have been more helpful. Helping get the scooter inside and showing us a table just inside and close to the bar, taking our drink order and... More

Having been out for a day out with my husband, son, and grandson Jacob. We came across the Royal Oak after driving past 3 places that didn't open till 6pm. The staff were friendly and the food was lovely, Homemade chips couldn't ask for better. I missed out on the homemade apple pie. But the sticky toffee pudding with cream... More

Was late going out and arrived here at 9pm and asked if still cooking, were seated straight away and food served very prompt, looked appetizing and plentyfull, and homemade. My lasagnia was lovely and my partner added that his gammon also, and the chips were lush!! barman friendly and nice atmosphere. Will be back again!

Our annual trip to Aberaeron wouldn't be complete without a visit to the Royal Oak. On a plus side the beer is reasonably priced unlike most of the other pubs in Aberaeron. The surroundings are nice with lots of memorabilia all over the walls. Hours could be spent just looking at all the interesting local history. See you next year.

Was invited by friends for a celebratory birthday meal. Three of us had curry which was basically hunt the chicken in the gloop. Awful. The fourth had sirloin steak. Ordered medium rare. Arrived with the texture of the sole of a shoe on a cold plate. Too embarrassing to complain as we were being treated but the worst dining experience... More
