My sister and I ordered the BBQ pork sandwich and it was good and tasty. I had the Ghost River beer, which is local, and it was really good. If you are visiting the National Civil Rights Museum, Central BBQ is adjacent to it and I recommend you have lunch or dinner here.

Rated as the vast BBQ? Really? Best dish is the ribs! Food came out fast but cold. BBQ potato nachos needs the cheese to be melted. Pulled pork needed sauce. Good beer selection. Fun atmosphere. I would try it again.

We think is Central is The BBQ place. The pulled pork is so very good, the wet ribs were drop off the bone and so thick with yummy sauce that I dipped some fries in it :). The slaw is great as well=everything I tried was.

I loved this food. From the sweet heat and dry spice wings to the slab of ribs to the banana pudding...It was all great. The menu had a lot of options. http://www.cbqmemphis.com/images/stories/docs/storemenu.pdf I would suggest trying the downtown location because it looks better and is right across from the National Civil Rights Museum. 147 E. I had the ribs on a suggestion from a co-worker. They were very good. The dry rub seasoning creates a sort of crust on the meat... very tastey. I tried their sauce... not impressed by it - but from what I've been told, the dry rub is what makes this place what it is. The sides I had (coleslaw and... More

I loved the slightly smoky flavor in the meat. You can tell care was put into the preparation of the meat before it was cooked, as it comes out to you with all the aroma you would expected from a high quality restaurant. The meats and all the sides are seasoned very well. The tenderness of the meat is very... More

We had dinner here last night. We arrived around 6:30 PM and had to stand in line to order. We had the ribs and pork. The ribs were really good as we shared them along with the onion rings. The pork plate which came with baked beans, cabbage salad and roll were all good. I liked the baked beans which... More

We went here on a 2 day trip to Memphis. It was on the way to Downtown Memphis from our hotel in East Memphis. The line was outside the door when we got there but we decided to wait. It's an order at the counter and then find a seat kind of place. Took about 45 minutes to get to... More

We love BBQ and generally search it out whenever we can. We've been to Memphis before and didn't try Central that time but glad we caught it this trip. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a half rack of ribs which we always order to judge these restaurants fairly. Central BBQ is right up there with the best. Excellent... More

My wife & in-laws passed through Memphis on the way to/from Arkansas. We decided to look up some bbq joints in Memphis and found this one to be top-rated choice. We decided to stop in for lunch on the way home to Nashville. Upon entering, it was your typical great bbq restaurant - old kind of hole-in-the-wall. Small lobby, tons... More
