The history is even better than the food!

Good southern food, plenty of choices, but the best part is the history. We met the owner as he walked around telling stories about the restaurant and the neighborhood. The people working and eating there are great resources if you want to learn more about the civil rights struggle in Memphis. This... read more

Very tasty home cooking - what they call soul food in the Delta, I am told. The catfish was the best we had in over a week of Delta restaurants. The cooked cabbage, pickled tomatoes, mac and cheese and beans were all flavorful and perfectly seasoned. The best part of the visit was the owner who talked to our group... More

I was surprised, but the food was good. Almost like home cooking. Best meal I had in Memphis. Green and cabbage, fried chicken were all good selections. Had to wait longer than would like to have.

Having eaten out every night for the past two weeks road tripping America this place reminded us all of eating around a family table. Hearty home cooked meals with no frills, bells or whistles. I like a restaurant with a small menu. It means more thought and time has gone into each one. We really enjoyed our meals with the... More

I am a native of Memphis, and find it hard to believe I never have eaten at the Four Way especially considering all the hype. I had a friend from New York in town and since we were going to Stax thought I would take her for some real soul food and have a treat for myself. Staff is super... More

If this is your idea of soul food...I suggest you visit a Cracker Barrel. The staff was very hospital and friendly...but the chicken was as dry as Spock's sense of humor! The turnip greens may have been canned and the okra frozen. My Momma's from the middle of the delta so I am well versed in collards, mustards and turnips!... More

While on a quick weekend visit to Memphis for a wedding party, we heard from other out-of-town guests at the party about Four Way Restaurant just down the street from the Stax Museum of American Soul Music. What luck! Our departing flight was delayed giving us an opportunity to enjoy a Sunday lunch at Four-Way--the best meal we had all... More

Very delicious! I had the Fried Chicken (dark meat) with Sweet Potatoes and Greens (best I've ever had). I thought the owners were very nice and there wasn't a dull moment the entire time. While we waited for our food, we took the time to look around at some of the pictures on the wall and were amazed by some... More

Visited here one night about an hour before closing after hearing about the peach cobbler. We were ignored for about 10 minutes upon entering the restaurant. Finally we were asked what we wanted. We were never asked if we wanted to be seated and were only given the option to take the food away. I have never felt more unwanted... More

Yum! Fried chicken, turnip greens, and yams served in a friendly place. The Four Way is worth a stop every time we visit Memphis, or are driving through.
