Put Some South In Your Mouth

Just like the sign says. This is the place to put some South in your mouth. We were traveling through and stopped in Memphis so we could eat here again. The ribs were excellent, just like we like, em. After licking the bones clean, we took a stroll down Beale street for the sound of blues.

Memphis has some excellent places to eat and be entertained and this is one of them, Blues City Cafe is a live band venue located on Beale Street, probably the most IN place to go in Memphis especially on a Friday/Saturday night, the atmosphere was buzzing, the food (Ribs, Fried Chicken, Steak Fries, etc were delicious) with good quality beer... Just finished eating at 2 popular barbecue restaurants in Memphis. Blues City Cafe vs. Rendezvous. No contest for me. I loved my ribs from Blues City. If you want the fat tender ridiculously delicious meat easily peeled off the bone with a fork at Blues City vs.chewing the fatty meat off the bone at Rendezvous; than go to Blues City... More

Four of us went to a late dinner at the BCC last night. It was a first visit for all of us and we really enjoyed the food and the experience. As it was so late we decided against a large meal and asked if we could share two main dishes. They said yes and we order the big plate... More

A group of four ladies went out to dinner and all had ribs which were recommended by our waiter. YUM....we all agreed they were excellent. We were there during a music show of songs of Elvis, Buddy Holly, Johnny Cash, etc. we all had a blast!!!

Blues City came highly recommended by Heartbreak Hotel. I was disappointed with the diner like decor but we stayed anyway. I had tamales & chile (never had) my boyfriend had steak. We shared pulled pork over fries to start. The pulled pork was dry but good. My boyfriends steak was very well done dry (asked for medium), I wasn't a... More

This is an authentic, no frills barbeque place. Food is good, albeit served up by a waiter by a waiter who apparently did not appreciate the fact that we were patronizing the restaurant in which he is employed. Our visit took place last Tuesday, April 14 at about 3:00 in the afternoon when the restaurant was half full at best.... More

Went in on a rainy Saturday and was seated a lot faster than expected. The hostess was very nice, friendly and accommodating to all parties. However our server, Adam was horrible. He constantly walked over our table ignoring us. He tossed two cups of water on the table and then took his time coming back. We were waiting on a... More

We had read good reviews of the Blue City so decided to give it a try as you can't visit Memphis and not try a BBQ! We were not disappointed! They unfortunately don't do a steak and ribs combo, missing a trick there! So My husband ordered steak, I ordered the ribs and we had half of each. I also... More

BCC is very casual with friendly staff. This is the ONLY place I eat ribs! I have never liked ribs before and on my last visit to Memphis a local friend told me I just haven't had good ribs. I'm so glad I took his advice and tried ribs at Blue City Café. They are awesome and so is the... More
