I am so glad I followed by fellow advisors to this place. One review said there was no air conditioning. I say they so. Nothing fancy but I cannot wait for my next trip to Memphis o I can go to Gus's more

We are huge fans of "Man v Food" and happened to catch Adam's show on Memphis. Being from the Southwest, we have definitely eaten our share of fried chicken. We specifically went to Memphis to try out Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken. We had the 12 piece family snacker for $19.95 and then ordered the large fries as a side.... more

We ate here upon the reviews from TripAdvisor. We were not disappointed! The chicken had a definite kick to it but not too spicy. I had a wing and a breast. It was crispy without being greasy. The beans and slaw, standard sides, were also very good. At the end of the meal, we shared a piece of warm pecan... more

Great chicken, tasty, tasty, tasty. Be aware it's not a fancy restaurant - it's basic. However, with chicken that good I'm still dreaming about it. more

So good, we dined there two nights running ! Could not get enough of Gus's fried chicken, the best I have ever tasted anywhere !! Only a 5 minute walk from Beale St. yet a million miles from the tourist crowds ! It's a great little place to eat where the locals eat ! Prices are very reasonable (including the... more

This is fried crack. Seriously... this stuff should be illegal. It is that good... until you have tried Gus' you have never had chicken... one thing call AHEAD... like 30 minutes ahead. Or even better, bring a book, and be prepared to wait. And when you wait... DO NOT COMPLAIN... you should be honored to have to wait for something... more

My husband and I recently returned from a road trip through Tennessee. We were told by a friend that we had to check out Gus's, and thank goodness we did. I was nervous because I'm not really into spicy foods. The chicken was definitely spicy, but I put on my big girl pants and powered through it! The sides were... more

Went to Front St. location after visiting Memphis in May for the day...got two pieces for takeout, one breast, one thigh. Breast was dry and stringy, thigh was pretty good...but was like seeing the movie 'Forrest Gump' after all the rave reviews feeling like 'this is it?' Neighbourhood had police at every intersection so the atmosphere was rated low....ended up... more

I'm a Tennesse girl who's traveled a lot. By far this is the best fried chicken I've ever had. And the sweet tea will stand up to my Momma's sun tea! Atmosphere is cool (downtown Memphis, juke box, paper plates). Took a while for us to be seated (on a Sunday night :30 before closing), but was well worth the... more
