I enjoyed my sides - try the fried rice - more than my chicken. My wing was great and juicy, but my breast had been in the fryer a little too long, leaving it with some too crunchy to eat ends and slightly drier than I'd prefer. The side of ranch dressing cured most of the dryness. It was not... more

No, not really! My chicken tenders were so tough I couldn't cut them with my knife, and the other three in my party said their chicken was okay, but certainly not the best in the world! Metal knives and forks would help some, but chicken needed work. more

Not much to be said for the neighborhood, or for the building itself. We always felt safe, though, mostly locals and a few tourists on a Sunday afternoon. This is serious chicken, it's plain to see where the priorities are. Beans and slaw are adequate, and a side order of fried rice was nothing to write home about, although the... more

We had the best fried chicken we've ever had! With a spicy kick, and just the right amount of coating, this was hot, juicy, tender, and delicious! Not a fancy place, but service was good, and we HIGHLY recommend stopping here - it's worth it! more

This place was on the gritty side of town. I grabbed my food and left. The food I had was very solid. Chicken was very flavorful and tasty. Fries were tasty too. Not the healthiest place ever, but you know what you're getting into before you go there. more

The food is very good - the chicken is on the spicy side, so beware. Service can be rather no-nonsense and on the slow side, and the wait to be seated can be long around lunchtime. You want it fast with a plastic smile, go elsewhere. This is a unique eating experience that you will remember. more

A friend and I visited Memphis a month ago, and because of the high rating on TripAdvisor, decided to eat at Gus World Famous Hot & Spicy. We were seated immediately. After a very long wait, the fried chicken arrived. I was quite disappointed. Gus's fried chicken turned out to be just average tasting. I usually buy fried chicken at... more

I had been waiting for two months to try this place, and it certainly lived up to the reviews. Walked right in at 5:30 on a Sunday night. Good mix of friendly locals and tourists. I could tell from the greasy feel from the concrete floors that we were in for some real fried chicken. Good, not outstanding, service, but... more

This place has the best fried chicken ever. generally I avoid places that mention "world famous" on their signs, but this place is the exception. The chicken was moist & wonderful, a little kick, but nothing you can't handle. The fried pickles were delish as well. They bread & fry pickle spears here instead of the typical chips & they're... more

We walked to Gus' from the Beale Street area and it was less than 10 minutes away. It was well worth the 15 minutes we waited for our table and then another 20 or so for our food.. The fried chicken (with a slight kick) was amazing.. The fried pickes were a must also. I'm not really a cole slaw... more
