Gus is great. The food is really good and service is good too. The wait kinda sucks but worth it in the end. Price is fair for what you get. The homemade deserts are also very good.

I can't add enough praise upon this joint. It is drop down delicious. Many have waxed rhapsodic about the chicken and I entirely concur. Let me add that their pies (sweet potato, coconut) are to die for. Dump of a joint down a road where you think "have we gone the wrong way?", don't be put off, it's extraordinary.

Absolutely hands down the best fried chicken I have ever eaten! I loved the atmosphere of the old place! Tiny but soooo worth it! Try the fried pickles too

We went to Gus's Chicken because of the reviews, we were not disappointed. We walked in pouring rain to get there and back, it was worth it! Simple menu, great value and great staff, already planning next visit. Food is delicious. Waitress recommended leaving room next time for dessert. Highly recommend, short walk away from Beale Street so can escape... More

Some friends of ours took us to the restaurant and we are grateful theydid! We started with some fried pickles and green tomatoes, then had their fried chicken and topped it off with their pecan pie a la mode. If you get to Memphis, you don't want to miss this place!

The place was great! We saw it on Man v. Food. Loved the atmosphere. Get the chicken NOT the tenders. The chicken was EXCELLENT, but the tenders were average.

2 pieces or 3 pieces? dark or white? what sides? that's it !!! Nothing fancy; the place and menu are both very basic and simple. Its not KFC and you need to wait for that chicken to get fried! It's worth the wait. There's a slight kick/spice to their chicken yet edible enough for kids. Go between meals to avoid... More

Traveled through Memphis in the middle of the afternoon and we were very happy to come upon Gus' Fried Chicken. Had a short wait for a table, then enjoyed slightly spicy, very juicy hot fried chicken. Not a fancy place but definitely worth going back to!

Came to Memphis for a quick little spring break trip with my wife, upon our arrival we were starved a baggage handler at the Peabody said Gus's is a "Must Stop" while in the Memphis area. We dinned in on a Monday night which was popping considering it was a simple Monday- anyways the chicken was to die for we... More
