At Gus's we're all about the food! Gus's restaurants are low-key with a southern flare where you will hear soulful classics emitting from the jukebox. Many people call Gus's a "blues-infused southern eatery." At Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken we focus on the chicken! We begin by using quality chicken which is treated to our special preparation techniques before being marinated in our proprietary batter. Once it's properly fried to a crisp golden-brown, we serve it up with a plate full of southern inspired sides and a cold beer or sweet tea. The result? Customers line up at our door before we're even open!

Gus does have a very tasty fried chicken recipe in my opinion and the eclectic atmosphere was fun. Not too spicy and slightly crisp with great flavor. The white and dark meats were not as juicy as I prefer. But the flavor was a winner. The coleslaw was fresh and good. The baked beans were enjoyable in that they took... More

Come for the food, the chicken is excellent, fried rice? also excellent. Rest of the sides were very good, but the chicken is the star. If I lived in Memphis I would avail myself of the take out option probably a lot easier. Seating is limited. Night I was there wasn't too crowded on arrival, but still took about half... More

The good: This little restaurant looks very harmless from the outside but don't let that fool your appetite! Once inside you might have to wait a little bit to get seated but it is worth the waiting as the full tables assure you. The menu is simple: you have the choice between dark or white fried chicken plus sides. The... More

Think Memphis is only famous for barbecue? Guess again. Absolutely the best fried chicken you've ever had. Don't leave Memphis without going to Gus's.

I know everyone's taste buds are different but this was a total disappointment for me. My wife or daughter can Slam them with Fried Cicken. I also ordered what they called "Cajun Rice" . It was white rice with Soy Sauce on it. I am originally from Louisiana. This rice has never even seen a Cajun. We don't cook any... More

Everything I heard about it was true. Fantastic chicken. A friend picked it up and brought it to my hotel. Carried out well. Still nice and crispy upon arrival. Very different style. Not heavily breaded. Yum.

The chicken here is spicy!!! It's a slow and continued burn. The spiciness wasn't too much for me, but may be overwhelming for children. Chicken was great though. I ended up ordering another piece after I finished my meal just to enjoy the flavor some more. Prices were reasonable. I had fried green tomatoes as well. They were delicious, but... More

I'm not a huge fan of fried chicken, but this is really good stuff. The biggest issue I have is the seating. They will put a single person at a huge table alone instead of putting that one person at an empty seat with a group, or at least make that person wait for a smaller table Now, I understand... More

My exchange student wanted to eat all his meals here. He said it was the best chicken he had ever eaten.
