GOOD GOOD GOOD

Every time I go, I order the beef stew dish. I do not know the actual name. Ethiopian food is meant to be eaten with your fingers so wash up! The flat bread is good it is similar to a sour dough taste. It is also useful for picking up the food.

My friend Rick put together a trip itinerary for us for a visit we made to Memphis, and he found Abyssinia Ethiopian Restaurant and put it on our schedule. We stopped there for lunch and both had really excellent food. Rick had the buffet and really liked everything he had, and I ordered off the menu which was hard because... More

We stopped for lunch at the Abyssinia Restaurant on the way to the airport with family. We had never tried Ethiopian food so was eager to give it a try. We looked at the menu and decided on the lunch buffet for $8.00. There were several meat dishes and lots of vege dishes. It was great to try moderately spicy... More

Victoria (my partner and wife) absolutely loves Ethiopian food and so, as we travel around the states doing Art Shows, we have an opportunity to sample the efforts of restaurants from coast to coast. I never suspected that we'd stumble on one of our favorites here in a town known for barbecue and honky tonks! Family owned, staffed and run,... More

I ate here on a recent business trip. Although most of the menu lists meat dishes, the Yetsome Beyaynetu is a traditional vegetarian spread on injera bread. I've had this at several Ethiopian restaurants across the country (I usually try to eat vegan) and this was the best I've ever had. The food was fresh, tasty, and filling. If I... More

The best Ethiopian food I've had outside of manhattan. Terrific Vegetarian food too. Superb use of spices.

I've spent a lot of time in Ethiopia, and believe me, the food here is not "sort of like I used to get", nor "similar to what I remember", nor even "not bad, considering we're in America" -- no. The food here is JUST EXACTLY LIKE what I used to get in Addis Ababa! It's in an unassuming location, nothing... More

The restaurant is small, but they are very nice and helpful! I usually don't know what to order so I ask them to give me a sampler if there is no open food bar. You get an experience to eat with your hands by using the bread, which is great! The prices are just right and they have food for... More

Abyssinia is one of my favorite restaurants in Memphis and I've eaten here many times since I moved to the area. The food is outstanding--excellent Ethiopian fare--and even better than some of the Ethiopian I have had in other, larger cities. The lunch buffet is dangerously fine, the prices are good (especially the lunch buffet), and the staff is kind.... More

The food was SO good & I found out about it on the Vegan Crunk blog (ck it out!!!) that lists all the vegan friendly Memphis... More
