I read several reviews where people critiqued the decor, but Christopher and I actually found it kind of fun. A little run down maybe, but the Asian inspired theme promoted a semi-romantic setting with partitioned booths and low lighting. But one does not go to Edo for the decor… We got their ginger dressing on a salad that came with... More

My wife and I visited Edo recently while visiting my parents in Memphis. I was craving ramen and sushi and found a number of blog postings and reviews offering praise for the place, so we decided to give it a shot. First off, the restaurant has obviously not been updated in many years. This place is definitely a dive. If... More

It is located in an slightly out of the way strip mall next to a Jewish grocery store. It is open from Tuesdays thru Saturdays. I was told this is the only Japanese Restrurant run by Japanese in Memphis. I had a broiled salmon. My friend had tariyaki beef with tempura. Both are very good and the prices are very... More

I hadn't eaten at Edo Japanese in years - many years! I went recently w/ friends and the food was even better than I remembered. I split the 'Love Boat' w/ a friend - something I used to order there years ago. It was just as delicicious as I remembered and filled w/ so many delicious items. Edo is very... More

This is a small mom & pop sushi joint. The menu is very authenic Japanese. You don't need a legend to order from the menu. Great fresh fish and rice. Feel free to bring your own wine and have a nice dinner for half the price of other sushi places around town. By far my favorite sushi restaurant.

We have been going to Edo for a long time and its food and service had been decent. Recently, they had lost their Vietnamese waitress and business was also down, therefore, they only kept two waitresses on the weekend nights. BIG mistake! Recently, with the article about them published on Commercial Appeal and their coming out with $5 coupons, they... More

This is a very old Japanese restaurant in Memphis. The decor looks 20 year old but actually that made me feel at home. Sushi - fish was relatively fresh but the rice was over seasoned. I may go for Sashimi next time. Tempura - We had veg-shrimp mixed tempura and both volume and quality were nice. Grilled Mckerel looks great... More

Edo is completely authentic Japanese food. It is the absolute best in Memphis! The entire experience is fantastic. My family and I have been eating there for 20+ years. I love it and recommend it to everyone!

Edo may not be a swanky trendy joint, but it's the best japanese restaurant in Memphis. The fact that it is small and a little dark make it all the better. If it is a dive, it's a cool dive! somebody said in another review that they didn't serve beer. Actually, that is incorrect. They serve japanese and american beer.... More

This is supposedly the oldest Japanese restaurant in Memphis. It is totally different from the rest of the places in town; it's in a so-so neighborhood, in a strip mall, very old feeling, interior is almost dirty-looking and it feels like you are in an old diner. However, when I was there, there were several tables of older japanese men... More
