What A Gem

This is a great restaurant. The elk, duck, and salmon were all great. The best crawfish bisque ever. Desserts were decadent. Chocolate soufflé, raspberry cobbler. Try the fried oyster salad for a starter, and the hot lump crabmeat in hollandaise. Cozy atmosphere in an old cottage. Why isn't this... read more

The food was fresh and inventive. Service all you could ask for without being stuffy. Altogether an enjoyable evening by any standard.

EJ remains my favorite special occasion restaurant. The food is consistently exquisite. The dishes may change, but when they do, it is an exciting adventure to taste the latest creations by Chef EJ. He seems to be more out front now, wandering through the restaurant, stopping at tables, etc., which lends a nice, personal and familiar touch to the dining... More

I treated my sister for her birthday. She had never been here. My other sister joined us. Neither had been here before and I encouraged them to try based on my experience and they were not disappointed. This is a true dining experience with very gracious service and excellent food. Both of my sisters thoroughly enjoyed their selections and I... More

We were here years ago and unfortunately did not have a good meal (an unfortunate vanilla sauce on a fish made us steer clear). Hearing continual good things, we tried again. The suboise appetizer was amazing. My dining partner was underwhelmed with the Kobe beef--said it was

Erling Jensen often greets patrons at the door. As a regular customer, he and the staff all know me. It's my number one choice for dining in Memphis, where I live. Last night I had another great meal -- black grouper -- and the most AMAZING petit fours for dessert -- sea salt caramel brownies. They were so good, everyone... More

We went on an icy - snowy night so the place was empty. Service was excellent. Food was pretty and good. Ordered a fish I probably would not get again--not a comment on the chef - he was gracious and wonderful...just not a fish I cared for. My husband really enjoyed his food. Don't think I would go again because... More

I went to this restaurant as a business dinner. The appetizers down to the dessert was great. I had the grilled romaine salad with scallops as my entree and the blueberry cobbler. I can't wait to go back and try the sweetbreads!

I shared a meal with my husband, and another couple for my husband's birthday. This is the second time I have eaten here, and once again, it was superb. We were greeted at the door, and welcomed by Erling Jensen, in his chef's clothes, and seated immediately at a table for four, in one of the small dining rooms. Our... More

I have been eating with Chef E. Jensen since his days in Overton Square. I have never been disappointed in any meal. i have taken my wife and family on may occasions and again everyone was pleased with their meal. I have eaten at EJR several times this year and always had an amazing meal. The varied entrees avaiable provide... More
