Wonderful Food with Genuine Hospitality

My boyfriend and I came to McEwen's to celebrate my presenting at an academic conference earlier that day. We came later in the evening on a Saturday, but they were more than willing to accommodate us. We tried the scallop appetizer, and they were incredible! Practically melted in my mouth. Strip steak cold. Sea bass over salted. 40 minute wait between salad and entree. Totally overpriced. Poor service. Don't bother visiting

Fresh ingredients cooked to perfection, but the menu could be more creative. The service was very good, attentive but not overbearing. Good wine list but overpriced. Very nice of them to accommodate a vegetarian in our party with a real dish as supposed to just a green salad. A very good restaurant for downtown Memphis. My choice for next visit.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Memphis. I have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is charming, as is the entire staff. The menu is varied (something for everyone!) and any dish you order will be excellent. The scallops are consistently sweet and succulent. The lobster risotto is especially good. If you want red meat, don't be afraid to... More

The feeling is very much of the informal local bar/restaurant . The menu is great, especially for Europeans, thanks to the addition of the light eating menu. All four of us had a great meal with good wine and excellent service. Highly recommended.

Service was good, food was great! I love a place that serves small plates, even more so when they are delicious! Nice wine selection too. Great location

Atmosphere is very nice and service was good. Surprise to get good seafood in Memphis, but we did. Fried oysters were good along with the shrimp and grits as appetizers. The sea bass was great along with the seafood pasta and the scallop dishes. Portions are not huge, but satisfying.

We actually considered another place prior to going here, but they only served beer (I'm allergic). It was Friday night, so I definitely wanted to enjoy some wine with my food. So we walked down the street and ran into McEwen's that was also on my Saved list on Tripadvisor. Although they were full, they did have a table open... More

For our first night in Memphis we came here. Really liked the "local" element and the freshness of the ingredients. My date got the sweet potato crusted fish; I got a couple of appetizers. One was a beef au jus sandwich type thing and the other pork tenderloin medallions. Everything was good! My date's entree stood out in particular. It... More

Really enjoyed the laid-back but somewhat sophisticated atmosphere of McEwen's. Food was delicious--really enjoyed the scallops as well as the shrimp and grits. Some nice local beers on tap as well.
