A lot of people say "the best ever" in reviews without meaning it. I am saying with all the integrity I can pull that this is the best fried chicken I have ever had. The batter is super crisp with just the right amount of heat to it. The sides are great. We also had the fried pickles which they... More

Saw this place on the travel channel a while back. When I found myself in Memphis I knew I would have to try it! And I'm dang glad I did! I went to the original Gus's off beal street. Loved the atmosphere and the taste of the chicken was PERFECT! just the right amount of heat and soooo juicy!

Came here with some co-workers while traveling through Memphis and we are glad we stopped. I got the 3-piece dark plate and it was great. If you like potato salad, sub that in for the slaw.

Every time I'm in Memphis for business it seems like I find a reason to go to Gus's. I'm not a huge fried chicken fan, but Gus's is in a whole other realm. The flavor and little bit of spice in the breading are great, the service is always quick, and the prices are reasonable.

Loved the chicken - nice and crispy, moist and a good kick from the spice. Sides were just average but who cares? I'd probably just order extra chicken if I went again and not worry about the sides. Coconut pie and sweet potato pie for dessert were both also really yummy and worth squeezing in at the end. Service was... More

Gus's World Famous fried Chicken visited the Crescent City for the 2014 Food Fest and did not disappoint. Fried chicken was excellent and prices were very reasonable. Staff was prompt and friendly. Definitely the longest lines thus far but well worth the wait. Will definitely visit them when back in Memphis.

The chicken is VERY good and flavorful, with a hint of spice. I really enjoyed the spicier crust, but if you have younger children or someone who is sensitive to spicy foods, they might not like it as much. If you're hungry for an appetizer they also serve some of the best fried pickles we've ever had. The only real... More

I had the 3-piece dark meat (2 thighs, 1 leg), beans, slaw, and greens. My husband had the 3 piece white meat (2 breasts, 1 wing). Chicken has a bit of a kick to it but not bad. Size of chicken pieces was average.. Chicken was hot and crispy, slaw was great, beans were average, and greens were good. Service... More

The wait was worth it! This spicy chicken was delicious. Once we were seated, it took very little time to get our food. Friendly efficient staff.

Good atmosphere! Great food. Great folks working there. Usually easy to get to, parking was a little tough. Many people trying to get in. Need to monitor for best time to go or a long wait ensues, but more than worth the wait! Will be back over and over..
