Superb shellfish

Shared a large dining room to rear with one other couple and the lack of any background music made it less than private to converse but the emphasis that evening (a Sunday) was on bar food going by how busy it was as we left through the bar. We started our holiday in the lovely Portpatrick and decided to eat here for dinner on the Sunday. I wanted to have a roast but they only do beef unlucky for me as I don't like beef 😩 but they did look lovely 😃 I had the deep fried chickens with chips, my husband had the seafood pancake, our children... Had a really nice Sunday night in the Crown which had been recommended to us by some Portpatrick regulars. The pub is great for just drinks and has a good vibe that your hoping for when you go to an old seafront pub, there were plenty of regulars and visitors which seemed to work well. We had a lovely meal... More

The food here is of a good standard, comes in large portion sizes and is reasonably priced. We've tried several Starters & Mains here and found them all to be tasty and good value for money. The atmosphere and decor inside are nice and the staff friendly.

This pub has real ales which is hard to find in Scotland (unless in Edinburgh). The food was good quality, cooked well and plenty of it. Well known for fish dishes. I had Cod and chips and Hubby had Ling Goujons with a homemade Tomato sauce. Hubby also had Cullen Skink for a starter and he was very happy. We... More

Choice of real ales, good atmosphere and service - and an extensive seafood menu. Excellent mussels, cullen skink and cod loin in fennel sauce on the Specials board. Definitely worth a visit for the food - and there's the coastal path to Port Mora and Port Kale and back through the Glen to work off the calories.

I recently had a lovely meal here with my family and thoroughly enjoyed it. The restaurant was very busy but food came to us with great timing. Mussels, scallops and prawns for starters were cooked brilliantly and very nicely served. As a lover of shellfish I will definitely be back again to the Crown. For sure my favourite place to... Fantastic value and very tasty food. We enjoyed our meal so much last night we made the journey from Stranraer again tonight. The menu is varied and very tasty. Should suit all palates. Staff very efficient. We had seafood the second night. Yum
