Nice food in old pub

We had a dinner here recently and thoroughly enjoyed it. Sea food was tasty, well presented and portions generous. We had salmon, sea bass and chicken meals, a few months earlier we had a lunch there with great mussels. Ordering is a bit odd as there is no table service and you order at the... read more

The dining room serves an "a la carte" menu that is overpriced for the standard of the food. Service is good but the food doesn't match up to the prices. Good pub with a good atmosphere but better with a pub meal in the bar than the more expensive option in the dining room.

All waiting staff were a pleasure and very attentive, had to send food back. We had planned a romantic day away with a lovely meal in here but was sadly disappointed. Food was over cooked and chewy very overpriced for what we received. Next time we will be trying somewhere else in the village.

Menu - could not fault choices or options and food was good. Put off by close proximity of tables which prevented privacy of conversation and generally felt a bit uncomfortable

Good food and service chef must be old school as he pays attention to detail and does not scimp on the portions

We were staying in Portpatrick for ten days and visited this pub several times. Mainly to sample the visiting ales on offer and to partake of at least one evening meal. All courses selected were good quality and there was plenty on the plates. When the sun shone it was an excellent place to people watch around the harbour. Probably... More

We stopped in the "AA Awarded Seafood Pub of Scotland" on the waterfront in Portpatrick. The reviews and initial appearance cause me pause. We ordered a couple pints and the "specials": North Sea Cod Loin "Au Poivre" (w/ cracked black pepper & fresh dill butter); and, Fresh Sea Bass Fillet "Royale" (w/ cordon of prawn and leek cream sauce). Both... More

This is a regular haunt of ours as we visit Portpartick several times a year. The bar food is tasty, well presented and great portion sizes, our favourite is Sunday Lunch, though the seafod is always worth having. Wash it all down with a well poured cask ale, what more could you want! The staff are friendly and obliging and... More
