In a wet windy Saturday afternoon we ventured into portpatrick for a mooch and possible late lunch. There are a few places to choose from but the Crown's welcoming lights beckoned. We made a great choice, warm cosy, friendly staff a roaring fire and that was before I noticed the mulled wine. Heaven. The food arrived quicker than I expected... More

Tried here for a bar meal after being disappointed at The Harbour House Hotel and it didn't let us down. Drinks were more expensive but they had huge selection of spirit including The Botanist gin. Beer was good too. Highlight was the food. Lots of fresh seafood to chose from and it was beautifully prepared and presented and tasted fantastic.... More

Firstly the location is stunning being on front of the harbour, unfortunately it was a little too cold for us to sit outside, so we sat inside the bar. The staff were very friendly and the service was good with a cosy atmosphere inside. The menu was fairly extensive with many pub favourites on it. There was also a specials... More

I had the chefs special cod but unfortunately had to send it back as it was swimming in oil, I wasn't asked if I wanted anything else so watched R enjoy his haddock and chips. The final disappointment was being asked to pay for my returned meal! Maybe we went on a bad day as the service was also really... More

We have dined here dozens of times over the past 10 years we have been visiting Portpatrick. A few years ago it seemed to have lost its way with the food taking a dive and the bar being full of rowdy, beer swilling foul mouthed men. Thankfully that is no longer the case. We enjoyed well cooked, well presented food... More

Won't be visiting there again. The pub was very busy with drinkers and dogs. My husbands Yorkshire pudding was burnt my chicken was crusty round the edges and dry. The salad had obviously been left uncovered for some time as it was all dry and going brown and was very basic like something from the 1970's

Popped by for lunch with a friend at the beginning of this week. So glad we did too! We had the cod loin au poivre, which was stunning! The fish was fresh and tasty, the dill butter and cracked black pepper married it perfectly. The veg were delicious and the chips were excellent! I can't recommend this place high enough!... More

Lunch today. Pleasant staff, the barman was very helpful. Food arrived quickly, which was great for my kids. Value for money.

I've given this five stars for the following reasons: Firstly, the beer is excellent and, having lived in Scotland for a number of years, I despair at the number of places which serve beer that I can't imagine anyone wanting to drink. Secondly, the food was what I would describe as 'good pub food': very tasty and hearty portions. Thirdly,... More
