Fantastic

We recently visited this restaurant and loved it! We both started with the soup of the day (potato and leek) and it was excellent. I had a baked potato which was nice and cooked through with my partner having a club sandwich which was epic! Jam packed full of fillings. Found the food and... read more

Not knowing the bistro had changed hands but caught a fleeting glance of an A5 poster mixed into others at the front of the building. The front door was open and the building only had one other couple sat inside(on a table for four), the young lady asked if we required a table for two, we confirmed that was correct... More

Delighted to find this super bistro in the food desert of Lochgilphead! Warm reception. Nice menu with local produce well cooked. Excellent value for money. Wine list limited but very drinkable and they have the knowledge to open your red on order to let it breathe during your starter. 2045 last orders bu hey hoh, get there on time.

Was recommended, so thought my ladies who lunch would try it......lovely atmosphere, customer service.....smiles were genuine and very evident nothing was a bother! We had to wait for a table, but hey ho.....we could and should have booked a table, but weren't in a rush. Food to die for!!!!!, because we had been out for coffee and cakes in Oban,... More

It has been the one of our family's favourite lunch places. Plenty of choice for 3 vegetarians (not easy to find on West Coast of Scotland). But since new people took over it went down the slope really. Things on the menu constantly being unavailable (baked potatoes for example), same soup of the day, well, for days... It ended up... Excellent food. Last Saturday I had the seared duck in Drambuie sauce followed by the lemon tart and gin and tonic sorbet. The main course was superb. Served piping hot and very tasty. The pudding was a beautiful creation and a different combination of flavours. My wife had slow cooked scotch beef for her main course and the meat was... More

The Smiddy Bistro is a little gem that we stumbled upon while holidaying in Argyle. The meal was excellent .My husband had the Cullen Skink and said that it was the best he had tasted, followed by the steak which melted in your mouth. I chose the chicken on a bed of haggis and it was to die for. We would... More

seen the Plackard type sign at the end of the street and thought we'd have a look. On entering we were greeted by a smiling face and shown to a table. Menu looked good so we ordered Cullen skink soup. If you like that type of thing it was delicious and told them so. Found out the place was under... More

My wife and I have just eaten at The Smiddy Bistro. The new Owners are opening on a Sunday night. The Cullen Skink, the Scallops and the Roast Beef & Yorkshire Pudding exceeded expectations!! The local Highland Ale is a must try! An enjoyable meal.

The Smiddy is under new management. Having experienced the chef's cuisine before in another establishment I have no qualms about recommending the food at The Smiddy. Open now on a Friday and Saturday evening it is a welcome addition to the town. Friendly staff, nice surroundings but one thing... please ditch the radio! It does nothing for the background ambiance.
