Great at always

Have been here many times as Lochgilphead is a frequent weekend retreat for us. It's a small place so trying to get in on a Saturday lunchtime is a challenge - shame it's not open on a Sunday. The staff are always cheerful and helpful - nothing too much bother. The food, whether it be lunch... read more

The only little issue was the prices are fairly high for what you order but none the less the food is absolutely delicious . Was never a salad eater either untill I tried this place and my god their salads are amazing , lovely waitresses and good service . All in all best place to go in lochgilphead for something... More

Lovely little place. Only stopped in here for some coffee and home baking but were made very welcome despite being soaking wet, and all the food being prepared looked delicious. We didn't have time to go back again, but it's worth a visit.

We enjoyed an excellent light lunch at the Smiddy. The waitress offered me a mixture of all the specials which were very good and the salad was fresh and enhanced by the addition of small pieces of fruit. We were very sorry to have missed Bruce but hope to see him on a future visit.

We seem to gravitate here every few years and it has never failed to be a wonderful experience. The food is so lovely and fresh, beautifully presented and local (where possible). The menu is simple but the flavours are worth savouring. The staff are efficient and the service is ggood-we don't seem to ever have to wait.

Tucked away but convenient for the nearby bookshop, this café continues to be our No 1 favourite for a coffee stop in Lochgilphead.

This is a tiny bistro down a side street in Lochgilphead. It is cosy, you are made to feel welcome as soon as you go through the door and the food is delicious, home-made and varied. A little expensive perhaps but fairly typical of the area but well worth it. Never had anything I didn't like and will keep going... More

Friendly staff, fresh food (especially enjoyed the veggie chilli), ambient surroundings, free parking close by - an ideal spot to have lunch or a snack in Lochgilphead.

We had The Smiddy recommended to us by family who live in the area . Its kind of tucked away so you probably wouldn't happen upon it as easily if you were a visitor just passing through. Worth looking for though! Get in early would be my advice because its quite small and busy. Lovely range of specials as well... More

Here's one for you not to miss when in Lochgilphead, The Smiddy Bistro, run by the lovely Bruce Johnston. You will not be disappointed, the food is freshly prepared and delicious. The staff can't do enough for you, we arrived a little early for lunch but when we ordered the freshly made Broccoli and stilton soup it was no issue,... More
