Cracking supper!

Had a takeaway from here last week, everything cooked freshly for you, and with some of the best chips I've had in ages. Really tasty, and properly browned rather than the insipid pale offerings so common now. Portion size is good, and great value for money

Visited this Cafe on 10th April.....ordered the proverbial Fish, chips & mushy peas. Whilst the waitress took our order quickly we waited at least 15mins for our coffees' & another 15mins for our food. The food itself was ok but nothing special.

We called in late afternoon and the small seating area was full. A kind family said they were going and we got their table. We noticed some people having pizza and fancied that, even though it's not on the cafe menu. No problem, a pizza menu appeared. A very helpful waitress, who we gathered is also part of the family... We wanted a selection of chip suppers to take back to our holiday accommodation. Our first 3 choices could not be met one of which was fish and chips. No fish in a fishing village? What we did receive was ok but with miniscule portions of chips and was twice the cost of considerably larger portions from an Edinburgh chip... More

Went in for tea while in Lochgilphead for work. Had fish, chips and peas and it was delicious. Perfection on a plate. Hot chocolate with marshmallows afterwards was very yummy. Waitress was very pleasant, and friendly. Would definitely go back.

Were the last two or three reviewers visiting the same place as us???? The terrible reviews are totaly uncalled for. We visited this Cafe this week TWICE! The first time was to eat in the small restaurant side. Very pleasant welcome, even though we arrived at their busiest take away time. The Haddock, Chips and peas arrived without delay, piping... Aside from the extremely average food, the café is about as welcoming as a sneeze at Heathrow. The manager was trying to pretend he was operating some high end café but he just isn't. If you want higher end and quality, go round the corner to the Smiddy. I have had much worse food than I was served here. I... More

service was ok, seats uncomfortable and packed in to a small area and they served the worst fish and chips I have every had. The batter was tasteless and soggy not even seasoned and fish full of bones, chips tasteless and the mushy peas a congealed lump on plate. Even the cup of tea was awful, cheapest budget teabags what... More
