Fantastic place

We went here for a family meal. The food is great and the service second to none just a shame that the pub attached to this place had someone tell my partner and son in law that women were not welcome in the bar and he controlled who was able to got in. At first my partner and son in... read more

Afternoon tea was bland, hardly any choice, not much to eat for your money and could tell the cakes had just came out the packet from Tesco. Had much better afternoon teas, was nothing special. Venue also abit run down

Took the family for a meal, 8 adults and a child. After working in the hotel 10 years ago as a chef I decided to return for a meal since the hotel was taken over all those years ago. To start with the restaurant looks more business associated now rather than for family's as it did when I worked there.... More

Dear Jennifer Thank you very much for your kind comments and I am glad you enjoyed your meal and the service. I am so sorry about the encounter with the man in the bar. Ladies are more than welcome in our public bar and only the management can decide who is allowed or not allowed in the bar. I wish... More

This is a lovely looking pub and restaurant, and the staff are excellent, but I continue to be disappointed with the quality of the menu. It's fine for lunch, but for more substantial evening meals it often misses the mark. An example would be their pasta dishes - always overcooked with stodgy, tasteless sauces. Dessert however is often tremendous. Kaim... More

Steak pie I thought was a safe bet. Meat was tough in fact I felt like I was choking when I was trying to chew. Veg was definitely not Al dented as they were practically raw. Service was OK but the waitress spilled some beer she was serving to the next table down herself and she loudly swore. ...not a... More

Dear Trinni, I am very sorry that you felt we did not come up to the expected standard. Normally our Steak Pie is much enjoyed. We do however have a new head chef starting with us this week and I am sure that if you make a return visit when the new menu is launched on the 5th of November... More

Great for afternoon tea particularly when with a family group. Food is just first class and served in good Scottish tradition.

Ate here on a Sunday afternoon with my husband and 2 kids, meal was lovely. Made a nice change from the fast foreign food the kids normally opt for.

My hubby ate here last Christmas during his team lunch and although its a nice setting and near the workplace, there is room for improvement. He was disappointed in the menu as a little too formula. There seems to be need to modernise the menu or introduce some traditional Scottish dishes to encourage more people to eat there. The setting... More
