Stayed in Skye overnight on the way to Harris and found this restaurant with excellent fresh sea food. I had the hake (catch of the day) excellent. Really good service and pleasant ambience.

This bustling restaurant is friendly, noisy and has one of the best views in the world. There are just a few window seats, and I suggest you wait until one of them is available, as the view is worth the wait. A varied wine list is on offer to complement the menu which understandably has a focus on fish and... More

Given how busy Portree can be in the summer perhaps I should have bought a lottery ticket... walked into the Rosedale on spec on a busy Friday evening, got a table for two by a window overlooking the harbour straight away. I had langoustines and my girlfriend had the mussels - both dishes were beautifully prepared and the fancy 'magic'... More

We had dinner at the Rosedale as we were staying there - booked by our tour company, and the roast lamb was the worst we'd ever had. It was not tender succulent slicers but served as a slab that was charred on outside and inedible. We complained to the waitress and had absolutely no response. It was also very expensive... More

Wandering round the harbour in Portree my wife and I were attracted by the menu boards outside the hotel and decided on the spur of the moment to try and eat there. In common with most restaurants in Portree, the Rosedale was very busy, however the staff kindly offered us a slot in 30 minutes time, and suggested we wait... More

This is my first negative review online. There were a number of things which ruined this restaurant for me and my wife. We turned up and got a table straight away. The service from the start was lacking attentiveness. We were surrounded by tables who were all given fresh bread. Our bread plates were taken away. This wound me up,... More

We ended up here as the recommended sea food restaurants in Portree were fully booked. We were forewarned that it had mixed reviews. We were given a table for 20:45 which was great for us, though we arrived at 20:35 to be told that our table was not ready, we went for a pint.. went up again at 20:50, they... More

A slightly impersonal experience, but, to be fair, they were very busy the night we were there. However menu was interesting and the food was excellent in quality and presentation. The restaurant well staffed and had a pleasant atmosphere. Recommended.
