The food here is outstanding. The fish and seafood fresh from the harbour. The service was friendly but a bit of a shambles the night I was there….maybe a case of inexperienced waiters/waitresses and a very busy night? It was all worth the wait in the end, and I will definitely go back regardless of the service!

We ended up here by fluke but after waiting 10 minutes for a table we were so glad we did! The entrance to the restaurant is a bit odd - a tight winding staircase with not much room for standing waiting. The view from the first floor is spectacular though - over the harbour to the island beyond. The wine... More

The Isle of Skye is now an in vogue European touristic destination most of the year (and deservingly so) and everything from hotels to B & Bs and restaurants is fully booked and tailored to one or two nights tourists. The restaurant is on the second floor of the hotel by the same name. The location is superb and central... More

Party of five of us dined here recently. All had seafood of some description - extremely fresh and tasty. I tried oyster for the first time and loved it! - very clever marketing that you can order one oyster, if like me you hadn't tried before, at a very reasonable £1.99 - I will certainly order more next time- i... Spent the weekend in Portree and had no end of difficulty trying to choose where to eat. As we all had a hankering for seafood, we opted for the Rosedale. What a good decision that was. Between us, we had langoustine, sea bass, salmon and mussels and one of our group tried oysters for the first time (you can actually... More

the food was much nicer than the hall-like atmosphere, where the fish of the fish&chips tasted fish (!), the gammon steak was great and the salmon salad better than in many other places.

After our first night unprepared in Portree for how busy the better restaurants are... we booked in advance for the restaurant at the Rosedale. Had we been really smart we would have asked for a table overlooking the harbour. The food was excellent and the service was very good. Local seafood is a must - though the rough seas of... More

Lucked up while staying in Portree while on Skye tour. They were fully booked but did put us upstairs in the bar area (no windows & no ambiance at all) but worth it. Food was great. Service was ok, but they were having to run up & down the stairs, so they did the best they could. Give it a... More

Food was good, staff were positive and easy to chat to! Had 3 deserts and enjoyed everyone of them, spaced out of course! Will go back there again soon!

On an Island Hopping holiday our first meal on Skye was a disaster. What the "chef???" did to the lamb should be reported to the RSPCA.. So we went looking for something better for dinner the second night. What we found was this unpretentious restaurant in a harbour-side hotel in Portree. We were lucky as we were shown to a... More
