This small inauspicious fish restaurant is fast gaining nationwide recognition as one of the best and most exciting places to eat in Scotland. With a superb location & stunning sea views on the upper floor of the Calmac building on Tobermory pier, and their own fishing boat landing fresh local shellfish - its an experience not to be missed. Just turn up unannounced for lunch, but book in advance for dinner. Lots on offer for non fish eaters too.

You must visit this wee gem!

We visited this wonderful restaurant on a recent stay in Tobermory - it had been recommended to us. We were a family group of adults - there were 8 of us. You must book if you want to eat here! Wonderful fresh fish strait off the boat, you won't get it any fresher. I had some lovely fresh oysters for starter & the Café Fish Roast Shellfish Platter for main course which was superb. The restaurant is upstairs in the old ferry building not very big so you need to book in advance, they run 2 sittings in the evening... More

We had the scallops and the skate. Both were deemed excellent by two fish snobs. Best meal on our 4 week UK trip. Polished it off with a Red Monk ale. The place is a "joint", with a beautiful view over the bay. Tobermory is a gem of a minute fishing village that's off the beaten path. We took ferry... More

Relaxed friendly restaurant, with great views but more importantly great fish. We went twice in our stay and booked ahead both times, a good move as people are regularly turned away in evenings as the restaurant is packed, no wonder as fish was great. If you are not sure about fish don't worry as staff are brilliant and will give... More

In a little unassuming cafe we found some of the best seafood we have ever had. We splurged and went for the shared roasted shellfish platter for two at £65. It was amazing. This is only a little place and you do need to book sometimes well in advance. They do at least two sittings if not three a night... More

Saw the reviews for cafe fish on line so decided to try as we were spending the day in Tobermory. My wife opted for the seafood platter, the cold smoked salmon was very good, bread was nice, the smoked mackerel was good and the hot smoked salmon was excellent. I had 1/2 a lobster as the full one would have... More

Had the great fortune to revisit Tobermory and eat at Café Fish this time. We got there at 11.45a.m. and place was packed by 12.00 with queuing outside. The John Dory with sweet corn veloute was superb as was my wife's Scallops with creamed celeriac and truffles and a butterscotch sauce--it really did work well--she loved it.

Beautiful food but the seafood platter was the best! The shellfish soup was very tasty it a little salty for the kids liking. Generally substantial dishes and good prices. Highly recommended

Great cafe atmosphere, good service, marvellous food. They certainly know how to cook and they seem to be on the destination map if the familiar faces in there are anything to go by! Very trendy and witty place!
