I had a lovely dinner at The County and the service was terrific. I would definitely recommend it. Staff was really pleasant and went the extra mile.

We wandered in here on a Thursday night looking for a table. The restaurant was very busy no tables left but gave us a cosy wee corner... Thankfully ... The meals were exceptional, a mix of traditional and Indian menu, we enjoyed picking from each other's plates... staff were pleasant and helpful, relaxed atmosphere despite it being as busy..... I... The county attracts a varied cliental, so appeals to locals and visitors. Average pub grub with a nice chicken and vegetable curry sold here after 2 pm. Slow service but this will be due to a very hard working dark haired young lady in here, while her other two workmates moved at an exceptionally slow pace,

Stayed in the hotel for 3 nights, so ate here each night. Very impressed with the Curry menu. I had the Garlic Chicken curry on the first night, and a Chicken Dopiaza on the second night. Both were delicious. The 3rd night (Sunday) was a small traditional menu so I had the Cheeseburger which was alright but nothing special. Definitely... More

Four of us had lunch last week in the hotel restaurant. Service was noticeably quick and efficient, and before long we enjoyed a choice of food. We each chose something different, and we were all satisfied with our own selection. It's the sort of place I wouldn't hesitate to use again, should I have freinds in town. If I was... More

Decided against going with the curry menu as we were due on a flight. What a mistake! We ordered the cheeseburger and chicken fajitas from the very hard to locate waiting staff. The cheeseburger was cold, and the fajitas were ...horrible. The sauce was full of crunchy fajita mix. Couldn't find anyone to complain to. Finally managed to settle the... More

The County Hotel is centrally located in Stornoway, and offers its diners tables within a converted pub setting. First impressions might not offer much expectation of fine dining, but this is deceptive. The County has a recommended curry menu which I have not tried, but my own experiences involve booking a standard dinner with business colleagues when other locations were... More

Very enjoyable place to have a coffee or a drink in the lobby. The hotel is away from the main shopping area. The only drawback I can see is the smell - Indian dishes form part of the hotels menu and there is a strong odour of Indian spices. Which some people may find off putting. I cannot comment on... This is a very average Indian. I've eaten in many Indians and to be honest the taste of the food is very different to others. I would not choose this place if eating with friends.

My father and I had the mussels to start, these were absolutely divine! Cooked to perfection, and in a glorious creamy, garlic sauce. The mains however were sub-par; I had the fish pie which had rubbery prawns and dried out mash potatoes on top. The couscous was very dry and cold - and didn't really go with the rest of... More
