There is little in the way of eateries in this part of the Outer Hebrides, so finding this little gem so far off the beaten track was very welcomed. Loch Croistean is an old school house converted to provide a small number of dining tables whilst still retaining much of the original feel of the place with local art work... More

My wife and I ate here on the evening of Wed 30 April. We had planned to eat on the following day, but we had been at Uig Community Centre Cafe earlier in the day and discovered that on Wednesday evenings local musicians perform in the evening. We spoke to the proprietor, Marianne, who was very accommodating, and booked in.... More

We visited for lunch. Brilliant, friendly service from the owner. Home cooked food was divine and well worth the money. Cakes and bread were lovely . Would definitely return to try the evening menu. Highly recommended

In a converted old school on a remote road which serves simply superb home cooking/baking. It has a warmly relaxed feeling and is a great spot for lunch (the home made soup was superb) or coffee. It also appears to be an interesting evening venue with curry nights and also film nights.

Arrived at this place after spending hours walking on the Uig sands and got a warm and friendly welcome from the owner, who immediately offered me a drink. I drank my tea as I peruse dye menu and I opted for the red Thai curry which was present beautifully, but was amazing in taste. The curry was better than the... More

We had a fantastic lunch at Loch Croistean. It was not (at least at that time) licensed but coffee for Doug and a lovely pot (a real pot) of tea for me suited just fine. We started with the vegetable and herb soup, which was lovely. We both had the pork and bean casserole, served with baked potato, coleslaw and... More

We liked this place so much that we managed to go for coffee and two evening meals whilst on a 2 week holiday! It is a small cosy place with very good, home made food and a lovely warm welcome. Definitely recommended!

I've been here twice. The first time was last summer when I was looking for somewhere open to buy food for a trip to St Kilda the following day. The owner came to the rescue and made up delicious sandwiches to takeaway as well as serving up a hearty bowl of soup. There was nowhere else open around this area... More

Situated in a beautiful part of Uig this restaurant was the old schoolhouse in Loch Croistean and has retained all the old school fittings. Its a welcome sight in the middle of nowhere when touring around. The sandwiches are made from local produce lovely home made bread and the owner Marianne very welcoming and charming.
