Superb View and good Food

We ate here twice on our visit to Islay and found the staff to be very friendly and attentive on both occasions. We had made reservations and were pleased to find we had been allocated the corner table with superb views over the harbour to Loch Indaal. The Inn is linked to the Bowmore distillery... read more

Our meal was good but very overpriced. We both had the pork belly as a starter which, although nice in flavours, the Langostine was almost a pate in consistency and the crackling was not crispy at all. The 'popcorn' was an interesting addition.. The main course was lamb, which was supposed to be medium rare but I found it to... More

The proprietor was not kidding--the oysters from loch gruinart are delicious! They rival bluff oysters from New Zealand. The dining room is cosy, picturesque views of the harbor. Romantic atmosphere. My lobster pasta was heavy on the sauce, but my friend's salmon was perfect. Friendly wait staff. Definitely a destination on Islay!

Wonderfully located restaurant, with a great view from the windows (especially on the beautiful evening we had over the Easter break) - stunning! Service was good, and the starters ingenious and absolutely delicious. Unfortunately the main courses weren't so good. We both had steak cooked medium rare, but one of us was was given a much smaller and thinner steak,... More

The dining room has been moved since I was last there to allow diners to enjoy the lovely views of Loch Indaal which is a bonus, but you pay for it! One scallop and a crab croquette for £11 seemed a particularly expensive starter. Service was good but not sure we will return on our next visit. There are other... More

Easter Sunday in a corner table looking out on a stunning vista of Lochindal and the Paps of Jura. Ambient Celtic music playing while we dined on locally caught seafood, beautifully presented and prepared. All brought by an attentive and friendly staff with a wealth of local knowledge. A wonderful evening, can't wait to return.

I had thier Oysters as a starter three nights in a row. The best Oysters ever. Main courses are excelent as well. Be sure to make a reservation. Before dinner we started with a wee dram in front of the fireplace (we were there in November). This place comes with my highest recomendations.

Family dinner, for about 40. Took over the restaurant. We had excitable noisy 3 year olds running about and thirsty, hungry adults; staff could not have been more friendly and helpful from start to finish. All the food was excellent. From a large group that are not easily pleased, we were absolutely delighted from start to finish. Thanks to you... More

This is a nice hotel with some nice, though not exceptional food available. Service can not be faulted, it was quick, professional and very friendly. I had a salmon starter which was nice, and was served on a piece of slate rather than a plate. Perhaps i'm a bit of a philistine, but i find such things a bit pretentious... More

Great menu at reasonable prices. Menu changes regularly. We stayed and ate at the Harbour Inn. Staff were attentive and accommodating. Food was locally sourced and well prepared. Magnificent menu.
