Just returned from a very pleasant weekend at this hotel . We had a very nice comfortable room with amazing view of harbour .. Could not fault the very polite friendly staff . Very professional in every way . Very chatty and informative .. My only disappointment was that the menu was not changed over the 3 night stay ..... More

They closed down their lunch sitting to accommodate my family and friends for my dad's 60th birthday. Provided us with 3 courses (2 choices for each) a prosecco aperitif and coffee and whisky afterwards. Excellent food, breathtaking views and lovely staff. Had a wonderful time. Would definitely come again.

I would love to write a glowing review of the Harbour Inn especially since the place looked so inviting BUT as a poe-faced employee informed us," we don't serve coffee til after 6pm". I thought he was joking and initially laughed. He was serious. This is a ridiculous state of affairs for an inn - no coffee til the bar... More

We had to wait 2 days before we could get a table so this restaurant is very busy, partly because it is not very large, so book early if you don't want to be disappointed. The drinks menu is reasonable and the food is very good, if a little different. I think the Harbour have set out to achieve a... More

The Harbour Inn is well located in central Bowmore - which in itself is central in Islay - with good views of the picturesque harbour for those with seats at the far end of the long-shaped restaurant near the seaside terrace windows. The food is fine/adequate but it's not quite as good as there is to be found in some... More

This used to be a lovely family-run restaurant. It has now been taken over by Bowmore Whisky owners. As a result it has had a stylish modern makeover and the menu choice has been considerably reduced. It still offers a good meal with a limited wine list and good whisky list, but it has lost some of its previous charm.... More

Laura-Jane has a deceptively wide range of whiskies in the side bar on the right as you enter. And her knowledge is exceptional. We walked in, having never found a Bowmore whisky that we liked, and she made it her personal mission to ensure that she found us one. And she did: an 18 year old single barrel cask strength... This was our first meal at The Harbour Inn and it won't be our last. The food was excellent. I had smoked meats to start with celeriac remoulade , venison , chicken , and lamb , all with fabulous flavour. Local bread was served , a malted granary and a farmhouse white. My husband had a two croquettes , one... More
