Visited the Cross Keys for some food and it was worth it. Staff were great and the barman was very knowledgeable about local area and gave us a couple of recommendations for places to visit. Food was delicious. Not cheap but worth it. Tomato and Basil soup was best I've ever tasted. Most dishes could be adapted to smaller portions... More

Had booked a table to treat my mother. She had been excited to go for some time. First impressions were good: authentic tavern feel, period decor. Another couple arrived at the same time, were greeted and seated, ordered and everything seemed to flow well. We were seated a few moments later (not the best table as it was at the... More

It's taken us several years to finally visit The Cross Keys for dinner, but we are already planning a return visit. We sat in the bar area (there is also a less pub-like dining room) next to the fireplace. This would be super cozy in cool weather. The bar (and dining room) have a rustic look and feel, but the... This is a nice pub, worth a visit if your in the area, however the food seemed to be of a lesser standard to the last time we ate here. My boyfriends steak was overdone and my starter of salt beef tasted like nail police remover and I couldn't eat it. Other than that my main meal was delicious as... More

Had an excellent lunch with friends. Service friendly and prompt and food delicious. On previous visits I have been disappointed with the haddock and chips the batter tasting like the cooking oil was needing changing but today's ox cheek was just mouth watering. Highly recommended

I booked a table for Mothers Day lunch recently. On arrival after driving an hour and a half to get there, we were shown to a small table in the downstairs bar area, alone, cold and dreary, while the restaurant was filled with bonhomie. I find it unacceptable to take a booking, for any day let alone Mothers Day, and... More

Working with Dad in Stirling, stayed here before and on both occasions have had a very warm welcome. Great selection of beers and ales and the cuisine is second to none. Beautiful mussels and Salted shredded beef. Nice quiet location with great atmosphere, dim lighting, smokey warm fire. Breakfast was fantastic too, sausage egg potato cake black pudding, mmmmmm. Will... More

Been here years ago and thought would take trip back for dad's birthday lunch. Arrived just as the log fire was getting kindled up just what we needed as was quite cold outside and in. Waiter welcoming and menu has a bit of both - good old favourites and some lovely other dishes - plumped for the baked mackerel was... More

We felt very welcomed by the staff. We will certainly go back and try the food next time . An all round country feel to the place
