I can't describe it, you just have to experience Glenapp yourself. One of the most amazing nights. Without a doubt the best meal I have ever had. We had drinks in the library, played board games, ate, unfortunately we were unable to stay, but I will definitely be staying the next time I visit!

Had a wonderful meal at this place, set in a magnificent castle, with great views. Food was smartly presented with bold flavours. The venison faggot with crispy onions was our favourite by far, so simple yet effective. The meal was rounded off by a wonderful clementine soufflé with tonka bean ice cream, A wonderful visit, will return.

I had hoped that our lunch at Glenapp Casle would be memorable. It was for all the wrong reasons. The food was unappetising and unappealing,There were only two choices. The courses practically indistinguishable, and the dessert little more than a small ice-cream with two pieces of ? pineapple and a sliver of chocolate. We chose not to wait for coffee. We have... More

We are always very grateful for all of the wonderful reviews of Glenapp, and we of course accept that we cannot please every customer. In this case, however, we feel we have to come to the defence of our fantastic kitchen team. Just last month, our brilliant new Head Chef Matt Worswick, and his three incredibly hard working colleagues, Tom,... More

The restaurant is a lovely room in the castle, with views out to the sea. There is no choice in courses except for the main, where the choice was grouse or brisket. Grouse is an extremely strong tasting bird, which I think you would either love or hate, and everyone in our party was in the latter category - I'd... More

On this day we had one of the most amazing experiences have ever had and the memories will stay with me forever. We were very kindly given a lunch for two as a gift. Saturday morning we spent some time grooming and putting on some style and grace before we headed off for the drive down the coast from Ayr.... More

My wife and I have eaten here on 3 separate occasions. We had the 6 course taster menu each time. The food is amazing. The balance of flavours and the execution of the dishes is spot on. The fist time I ate here ranks as the best meal of my life. The hotel and its setting are beautiful, with a... More

Location and setting gorgeous. We booked a meal for four as a special treat on holiday in the region. The meal was well presented and the staff attentive and informed. My main course of grouse consisted of 4 small fillets of breast, one of which was so high that it smelled off, I thus cut a small taster for each... More

When this lady mentioned that she thought one piece of her grouse might have been ‘off’, our staff of course apologised without reservation, as you would expect in any good restaurant. We feel, however, that since the matter has been made so public, it is perhaps not unreasonable for us to mention that three of our experienced chefs, as well... More

I had booked the Glenapp Castle well in advance to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday and was not disappointed. As we drove into the property on a rainy evening, we knew were in for a magical evening. We were met at the car with an umbrella and were ushered upstairs for cocktails and canapes in the drawing room. We then... More

Family meal at Glenapp in July. Obviously the place cannot be faulted for location and layout. Atmosphere is quiet and understated which will probably suit most folk but I found it to be rather sombre and too serious. Foodwise was a bit of an issue for me. I did not expect gargantuan portions but this was ridiculous. My wife eats... More

There are three very fine chip shops in Girvan, and if fish and chips is what you seek, they cannot be faulted. With no disrespect to them, our food at Glenapp is a very different kind of offering and experience. Our three course lunches, as sampled by this reviewer, come with canapes, petits fours, and freshly baked bread in ready... More
