Best Chip Shop anywhere

The best selection of fish in any chip shop and, if you can't decide, take the mixed fish option. Seabass, salmon, sole, hake and haddock with very good chips was a delight.

First time at the Wee Hurrie and won't be our last! Recommend by friends and they forgot to tell us it was right on the harbour!! The chips were lovely and crisp. The batter on the beautiful fish was sooo crisp. Fantastic!

Maybe dinner time on a Saturday evening is not the best time to visit. This place may offer the best fish and chips in the area, but the waiting time borders on unacceptable. Waited at least 10 minutes for my order to be taken and another c50 minutes waiting for it to be cooked. The food is so good you... More

Just had lunch in this chippy. I enquired about gluten free fish and chips, the chap behind the counter was very knowledgable and very helpful. He advised me that the chips were always gluten free, as all gluten containing items were cooked in a different fryer. They also make gluten free battered fish and can also pan fry separately. We... We used to go to the Wee Hurrie every week when taking our dog to the beach and raved about it We went back last week with our new puppy and were disappointed, however everyone can have an'off day' so we went back this week. We were again very disappointed, what's happened to the lovely golden, crispy batter? It was... More

When we arrived we knew it must be good as very busy! The fish and chips were a bit pricey but portion sizes are massive and very tasty so worth the money. Unfortunately the service was appalling but luckily that doesn't matter so much when buying a chippy!

After hearing so much about this shop and the fantastic fresh fish I made the trip down to Troon from Glasgow. After waiting one and a half hours in the queue my expectations were high, somewhere so busy had to be good. When I finally got my meal I was so disappointed. The fish was very dry and the batter... Nippedd in for a wee quick lunch on the way to Ayr Had the Hake and the wife had the Cod, both were brilliant. Surroundings not great, but after all it is a working harbour so if you don't need scenery, but crave good food .......... this is the place for you

This place is not cheap and on some occasions very very busy. There isn't really anywhere to sit and it is necessary to stink out the car with your take away but it is all worth it, the choice, the flavour and the portions are all worth the wait and the whiff. Highly recommended.
