Am Fuaran is one of my favourite places to eat and drink. Located closed to Achiltibuie the place is surrounded by beautiful scenery with fabulous views over the Summer Isles and well worth the drive from Inverness. The menu isn't huge but for such a remote location offering fresh local seafood it is understandable, and with choices of scallops, langoustines,... More

Lovely little bar/restaurant in Altan Dhu. Very small menu but good food. Scallops delicious. Gets busy during holiday period so book to ensure a seat. Bar staff very polite and restaurant waitress delightful. Remembered our group after only one visit a year before!

We had dinner here and found the food very good and the service was outstanding. Also, the portions were very large. We found the restaurant very attractively decorated and comfortable. You have to like bar noise if you want to enjoy your meal though. There is no sound separation and the cluster at the bar was quite loud when we... More

The freshest lobster, langoustine and scallops ever! All served with carefully prepared sauce which compliments the fish perfectly. Dishes are served with either plain vegetables or salads and chips or potatoes in a true pub style but still very good indeed. Don't waste your money by going to the more pretentious 'fine dining' place nearby!

We honestly had no idea what we would eat when we wandered into this remote bar. Not only was it surrounded by natural beauty but the food was the best too. The main course we chose was steak pie with vegetables and chips. Let's start with the chips - they were freshly made, crisp on the outside, very hot and... More

We made a special effort this year during our annual wild camping tour of the Beautiful Scottish Highlands to stay on Port a Bhaigh site, one of the very rare occasions we pay for a site. Why? Because this has to be one of the best restaurants in Scotland. The steak is simply the best and the atmosphere perfect. Cannot... More

Popped in to the Fuaran Bar last night on the off chance of a quick dinner. They were incredibly accommodating. Beautiful roaring fire, great pint of bitter, excellent chicken and mushroom pie and the steak was also brilliant. Service with a smile was so efficient. All round a lovely experience. We'll be back!

Family visit to partake of locally sourced food from the Coigach peninsula. Ross-shire steaks were sublime, steak pie the size of my head but a veggie option with aubergine, mushrooms and courgette meant whole family was full to brim. The woman who served (catriona?) had a lovely smile and v welcoming. The langoustines looked amazing. We'll be back.

On a nice day when the sun is shining and there's just enough wind to keep the midges at bay, sitting on the Fuaran Bar's outside deck with a toastie, packet of crisps and drink is the nearest thing to heaven you can get in this life. The view, the air, the quiet...just sublime. And if reality beckons they have... More
