there are less bad tourist traps in this southern end of Loch Ness where all the tourists busses end up. do yourself a favor and buy some snacks or packaged sandwiches from the markets nearby and avoid this place at all costs the service: horrible. there were people seated after us who got their food, finished and left the restaurant... The staff at this restaurant were very miserable and the need to learn some basic human manners. The food was average at best and the menu whilst extensive was quite pricey. Avoid at all costs. I feel the reason the staff can be so arrogant, one, middle age non British waiter in particular was extremely rude to customers that I... More

Had lunch whilst staying at the Lovat Hotel on Boxing day. For a small cafe the was a varied menu. The Jacket potato with chilli I had was hot and tasty washed done with a nice pint of Stella. Lovely views across the canal. Can get very busy with tourist coaches.

Our expectations were not high based upon the appearance of the place, but it has an excellent location and the prices were quite reasonable for lunch and there were limited other options as it was during slack season. We ordered sandwiches, a baked potato, and a burger. We were some of the only patrons in the restaurant and they had... More

My husband and I ordered 2 meals and they came reasonably quickly and were tasty. We were the only patrons at the time so that probably helped. The food was a bit pricey but you have to expect that with it being the only place open in town.

Too bad this restaurant is located in such a prime location, right next to the canal leading to the Loch Ness. The middle age male waiter (not Scottish) was extremely rude, unpleasant the first moment we sat down. I ordered a SALMON and the order came out with PORK! I asked the waiter (speaks poorly English) he argued that I... More

Loved the pita/hummus starter. Kids shared a 12" pizza and it was HUGE. Fantastic meals and great service--even after a party of 18 came in after us!

During a one week holiday in Fort Augustus we tried most of the available eating places and this was the one we enjoyed the least. The guy who appeared to be the waiter seemed completely uninterested in serving us. Pointed us to a table (no dialogue at all) in fact we thought he possibly did not speak English. The food... More

Poorest customer service ever. Looked like an effort to serve. No smiles chat or any emotion. Come on guys your food is good make an effort for your customers. You are all so miserable looking. Learn how to serve tables and treat customers with respect. You are not a cheap resteraunt. Customers deserve more from you

Why oh why didn't we bring our own sandwiches we wondered upon opening the not so delightful offerings of The Moorings. We walked to the bin convinced that some mayonnaise truck had overturned in town upon opening our so-called CHICKEN sandwiches. The chicken would have needed one of the quay side lifesaver buoys to save it from drowning in the... More
