This restaurant was very comfortable and made you feel that you were eating at home. The meal was very good and the meringue was great and also HUGE!
Been coming to the Sutherland House since 1991. Always the best in service and food from Margaret and Callum. Soups and desserts (the fruit crumbles!) especially. The best steak I've had in Scotland. Not a restaurant, but a home with fine cuisine to our group of across- the- pond golfers.
Warm welcome good food and friendly staff. Minor grumble was very stong peppercorn sauce on the steak, would advise others to ask for it "on the side"
On a rare evening out as a couple we ate here. A very friendly welcome from the owner. Even though it was not too busy there was a nice atmosphere. Prawn and avocado salad to start was excellent and fresh. Venison casserole was very tender. Cranberry sauce was very rich. Vegetables came as standard and were excellent cooked to perfection.... We had a most enjoyable Saturday evening meal at the Sutherland. In a party of six, all loved their meals. Warning - appetizer portions are large, so you might want to consider sharing. My chicken entree was moist and juicy, with a decadent whisky cream sauce - so good!
My partner and I ate at the Sutherland on the recommendation of the couple who ran the B&B we stayed in. Sutherland House is conveniently located in Dornoch and from the moment we arrived we were made to feel extremely welcome. The menu provided a good selection for all courses, the food was well cooked and presented and represented good value.... It is definitely worth a detour ! So if you plan touring the Highlands, make sure you will be in time for dinner in Dornoch, just after 6pm. Please don't forget to book for the evening. The restaurant tends to be busy. The Haggis dish is very good and traditional, but do not miss the Strawberry cheese cake! Nice updated... More

We had a lovely dinner at the Sutherland House during a week long stay at Dornoch. The service is prompt, the proprietor friendly and the dishes are carefully prepared. The have a reasonably good wine list. The food is very rich so hard to visit more than once during our relatively short stay but we look forward to dining here... More
We stopped by the Sunderland House for dinner on a Bank Holiday and although the dining room was full, we were easily accommodated in the comfortable lounge. I'd describe the menu as traditional with a twist. We skipped the starters and and our mains - Pork Calvados and Chicken Glenmorangie - were outstanding and substantial. The owner was also kind...
