Outstanding overnight stay

Chosen on the strength of its location and its good reviews, this was a perfect overnight stop while cycling the Ring of Breadalbane. Its exterior, while pleasant, doesn't give away a lot about the delights within, so a passer-by might not give it a second thought. The staff were all pleasant... read more

My wife and I visited the Barley Bree for the first time today, with high expectations arising from recommendations from friends who had stayed on a DB&B deal. Our Sunday lunch was very good in some respects but not in others. We really enjoyed the soup and pigeon breast starters we selected. The home made bread was very tasty. My... More

To keep this short and sweet, OUTSTANDING. Fresh local produce, with a hint of French styling, this has to be one of the best, understated restaurants in the UK never mind Scotland. We would have driven past this place only a friend had recommended it for dinner. We were transported back 200 years with the interior feel of an old... More

My husband and I had Sunday lunch here and it was fantastic and by far the best in the area. The roast beef was tender and tasty and the vegetables perfectly cooked. I chose the tarte tatin for desert, which was amazing. I would not hesitate in recommending this restaurant to family and friends.

We have eaten here on a number of occasions and the food is very reliable and tasty. The homemade bread is delicious and it's a trial holding back from eating too much of it before the main event. The food uses local ingredients with imaginative accompaniments. The presentation is very good and we have invariably enjoyed our meal. Wine is... More

The meal was "nice" but not exceptional with very small portions and exceptionally pricey. Whatever you do don't order the beef fillet as it is hardly enough for a child. Will definitely not return.

Visited recently as a group of friends (9) and were allocated a suitable table in a corner the other side of the fireplace so we were out of the way from most other tables as we were occasionally noisey - sorry to those affected. The service was excellent and attentive throughout the meal and the wine list extensive and well... More

We love this restaurant! We have been many times, either as a couple, or with family and once as part of a private party. Fantastic food and wine, although not the cheapest of places, worth every penny.

We have dined at Barley Bree on a number of occasions now and each time we have enjoyed fantastic food and service. The menu varies with the seasons and the food is always full of flavour and beautifully presented. Dinner with friends in June was a wonderful experience, enjoyed by all. Highly recommended.
