One of our favourite restaurants - lovely relaxed surroundings, fabulous food with Fabrice's Gaelic twist. Whether lunch or dinner we have always had a splendid meal - tarte tatin worth the visit alone.

We visited this restaurant again on our annual trip to Scotland and am pleased to report continued high standards of food, very well presented, attentive service and a lovely venue. Only criticism is that wine list seems to be moving up in price for recognisable wines that you can buy at retail for a lot less. It's nice to have... More

We saved them for the better weather and duly tried a visit for lunch , and on the strength of this we will definitely be back for dinner. While not cheap we certainly got a 5 star lunch with each course well presented and cooked ,first class. Not a big menu choice ,4 each of starters, mains, sweets, but all were just... More

well known restaurant locally but on this occasion, a Saturday dinner treat, we found the menu very very limited and disappointing. Passed on a first course, settled for a main course each. Jacob's ladder beef was described as slow cooked rib eye, arrived with a very large bone, a bit like a large dog's bone, with some brown stuff attached... More

Would never have known this place existed, but visited as part of a food tour with Tasting Scotland. The guide raved about the food which raised expectations, and we were not disappointed. A hidden gem well worth seeking out

Thank you so much for your comments. I do apologise that we made you feel rushed - it certainly wasn't intentional. Sunday lunch can be quite fast sometimes but it would seem we didn't communicate with the kitchen to delay the arrival of your food while you were still enjoying your aperitifs. On your next visit please tell us if... More

Just read Nigel F's review of the Barley Bree. Not sure what his interest is but clearly he has no idea about good food and good wine. We regularly dine out have tried most of the better known restaurants in and around central Scotland. The Barley Bree is up there with the best there is. Excellent food, diligently prepared and... We made the trip from Crieff for a birthday meal. The meal was OK but when you look at what you have to pay, I wouldn't say that you get value for money. It doesn't necessarily equate that if you charge high prices you get great food. The food was small portions, very artily arranged, however nothing spectacular to write... More
