Wonderful restaurant with rooms outside Crieff

Travelling north, we found this place and were convinced by the reviews. Wonderful. The dinner was delightful, inventive and delicious. Delicious artisanal gin for apero too. The building has pleasantly rustic and rooms very comfortable. Definitely recommend it as a find just outside Crieff.

This was our second visit to this gem of a restaurant. The food was sublime, with my wheat allergy fully catered for. My husband got quite embarrassed about all my mmms and ahhhs over an AMAZING creme brulee. Added bonuses are the car park at the back and the small play ground for the 6 year old. We will be... Our second dinner and overnight stay - and the standard remains as high as on previous visits. At dinner our starters were Venison Tartare and the trio of salmon terrine. The venison was stunning - I'm always careful of tartare, but it wasn't necessary - one of those dishes that you want to go on much longer. The flavours and... More

Fantastic food, courtesy of the French chef: the truffle mash was heavenly. Friendly service, good drinks menu and the rooms are very nice for staying overnight. Although we've said its French food, I would call it Scottish/French as it uses local produce, such as lamb, venison, Scottish sea-food, but the cooking definitely has a French twist

The Barley Bree is in Muthill, a small village en route to Crieff from Stirling or Auchterarder direction. We heard of this restaurant from friends who recommended it to us and we were very pleased to have sought it out. We enjoyed a superb lunch, having chosen from the very tempting menu which contained an excellent array of local game,... More

Chosen on the strength of its location and its good reviews, this was a perfect overnight stop while cycling the Ring of Breadalbane. Its exterior, while pleasant, doesn't give away a lot about the delights within, so a passer-by might not give it a second thought. The staff were all pleasant, helpful and unobtrusive, and in particular coped valiantly with... More

My wife and I visited the Barley Bree for the first time today, with high expectations arising from recommendations from friends who had stayed on a DB&B deal. Our Sunday lunch was very good in some respects but not in others. We really enjoyed the soup and pigeon breast starters we selected. The home made bread was very tasty. My... More

To keep this short and sweet, OUTSTANDING. Fresh local produce, with a hint of French styling, this has to be one of the best, understated restaurants in the UK never mind Scotland. We would have driven past this place only a friend had recommended it for dinner. We were transported back 200 years with the interior feel of an old... More

My husband and I had Sunday lunch here and it was fantastic and by far the best in the area. The roast beef was tender and tasty and the vegetables perfectly cooked. I chose the tarte tatin for desert, which was amazing. I would not hesitate in recommending this restaurant to family and friends.
