Five of us visited for dinner. We received a very warm welcome. We had pre-dinner drinks served in the comfortable, cosy lounge where we chose our food and wine. Once in the dining room we were brought home-made bread and a tempting amuse-bouche. There followed three courses of wonderful, mouthwatering, delicious locally-sourced food which was to die for. You can... More

Fantastic lunch today. Amazing food and service first class. Would thoroughly recommend this lovely restaurant and will definitely be back. Cosy space on a chilly day and food out of this world. I had the pork riclette to start followed by tender lamb, mash puy lentils, carrot and broccoli. No room for a sweet however coffee in the lounge was... More

I would strongly advise anyone with a healthy appetite to make sure you don't go here with a completely empty stomach because you are likely to leave still feeling hungry. I have a normal appetite but after a 3 course meal including an extra portion of bread plus cheese and biscuits (I guess that makes 4 courses) I still felt... More

Nice warm welcome on a quiet-ish Monday lunch just after Christmas. Fires were on and service was just right, timing - wise. Warm & cosy dining room which retains a nice relaxed, welcoming feel about it. Heritage colours on the painted tongue & groove, a mish mash of tables which reminds me of some of the best country pubs, although... More

This was our first visit and although we had heard good things we were pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent, the roast beef was beautifully cooked with a proper home made yorkshire pudding. Staff were attentive, friendly and welcoming.

We went to the Barley Bree on Saturday evening to join friends for a 60th celebration. This time we also booked a room and stayed overnight. The room was compact and comfortable with our own ensuite shower room. The entire even was most enjoyable from the moment we arrived. The evening meal was outstanding as expected and the breakfast on... More

It is sometime since our last visit to this restaurant and it did not disappoint! Absolutely exquisite food - both in taste and presentation. Standard of restaurant and staffing also very high.. Having travelled extensively all over the world this establishment ranks amongst the best. So lucky to have such a place close to our doorstep. So easy to overlook... More

We (husband, myself + 3 children) booked Barley Bree for lunch as were planning to visit the fantastic Drummond Castle Gardens. We were so impressed. The place is sweet, friendly and welcoming. The menu is simple, it fits on an A4 sheet which is always a good sign. I had the fish on a bed of giant couscous/vegetable and it... More
